CHARGE+ and XPENG Partner on EV Charging in Southeast Asia

Charge+, one of the largest EV charging companies in Southeast Asia, and Chinese EV maker XPENG have announced a strategic partnership to enable long distance driving for EVs by building a network of high-powered supercharging hubs across Southeast Asia.

This initiative will see at least 20 Direct Current (DC) supercharging sites across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, with power ratings of up to 480kW DC, capable of delivering a charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 12 minutes using its 451kW peak charging power and 5C Supercharging technology commonly found in XPENG EVs.

In the first phase, four supercharging sites are already ready to serve EV drivers today. These four sites are namely Royal Square Novena in Singapore, Downtown East in Singapore, KL Eco City in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and One Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand.

As an example, Charge+ has installed six ultra-fast charging points at KL Eco City, a prominent mixed-use development comprising retail, serviced apartments, residential and office buildings spanning 25 acres in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. This hypercharging hub can deliver up to 350kW DC charging speed, which makes it the fastest EV charging station within Kuala Lumpur, thereby offering convenient and rapid charging for EV drivers.

In the second phase, both companies will grow this supercharging network in the existing countries and expand to other countries in Southeast Asia such as Indonesia, with deployment at high-traffic locations including commercial hubs, retail malls and highway rest stops across the region.

This partnership is highly synergistic with Charge+’s ongoing implementation of an EV charging highway that spans 5,000km across five Southeast Asia countries, namely Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, the longest EV charging backbone in the region. Together, Charge+ and XPENG will enhance the charging experience for EV drivers by emphasising ultra-fast charging in high-traffic locations and facilitate seamless, cross border travelling for EV drivers.

As part of the partnership, XPENG EV owners will enjoy an exclusive charging discount on Charge+’s public chargers in Southeast Asia for three years. XPENG owners will also have additional discounts at the XPENG–Charge+ supercharging hubs.

XPENG users will soon have seamless access to Charge+’s public EV charging network across Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand directly through the XPENG mobile App. This functionality is scheduled for integration into the vehicle’s dashboard by the end of 2025. Additionally, start and stop charging capabilities on the XPENG App are planned to be launched by the same timeframe.
