Vauxhall has opened orders on the New Frontera Electric Extended Range, featuring a larger 54kWh battery providing up to 253 miles of range on a single charge (WLTP).
Vauxhall continues to make electric mobility accessible and appealing with the New Frontera Electric Extended Range. Its £27,495 OTR list price is below the Government Electric Car Grant threshold, while it is also priced below the luxury car tax (Expensive Car Supplement) threshold.
Giving Vauxhall customers more powertrain choice than ever, the Extended Range joins the Frontera family, which now consists of two battery-electric and two hybrid variants, which start from £23,995 and £24,255 OTR respectively. The Frontera Electric was the first car in the UK market to offer list price parity between electric and petrol hybrid versions, and the 44kWh Design variant is now priced lower than its hybrid equivalent – eliminating the list price premium that usually applies to electric cars.
Powertrains
New Frontera Electric is now available with a choice of powertrains, thanks to the addition of the new Extended Range variant.
The Extended Range variant comes with AAA-rated eco tyres, fins added to the rear spoiler and additions to the lower rear bumper area for improved aero flow as well as a different alloy wheel design (on GS).
The larger 54kWh battery extends driving range by an additional 67 miles over the standard Frontera Electric, while the electric motor produces 113hp and 125Nm of torque, resulting in a 0-62mph time of 13 seconds and an 88mph top speed. With 100kW DC charging capability, a 20-80% charge can be completed in around 28 minutes. An 11kW on-board charger is fitted as standard, enabling a 20-80% charge in 3 hours 25 minutes from an 11kW AC public charge point. A 20-80% charge from a 7kW home wallbox takes 5 hours 5 minutes meaning it’s possible to benefit from cheaper off-peak energy timeslots.
Alternatively, the Frontera Electric is available with a 44kWh battery with a range of up to 186 miles (WLTP). The electric motor produces 113hp and 125Nm of torque (as in the Extended Range version), allowing the new Frontera Electric to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 12.8 seconds.
Like all Vauxhall electric cars, the Frontera Electric Extended Range is available with the brand’s Electric All In offer. Customers benefit from eight years of comprehensive roadside assistance, including emergency charging assistance. Electric All In also includes £500 credit which can be used towards either an Ohme home wallbox installation or Tesco charging credit or Octopus Electroverse credit, as well as 10,000 miles’ worth of free home charging when switching to the Intelligent Octopus GO home energy tariff.

Specification
All Frontera variants and trims share the same practical and flexible size and space. Measuring 4,385mm in length, the Frontera sits between the New Mokka (4,150mm) and New Grandland (4,650mm) in Vauxhall’s refreshed SUV line-up.
Despite measuring a similar length to an Astra hatchback, New Frontera offers greater boot capacity with the rear seats down (1,600 litres) than an Astra Sports Tourer Electric (1,596 litres). Additional versatility is provided by the 60:40 split of the rear bench and the two-position Flex Floor boot. Furthermore, customers who want to take full advantage of the roof load of more than 240kg can choose the optional roof rails.
New Frontera features Vauxhall’s ‘Pure Panel’ cockpit with dual 10-inch widescreen displays, a newly designed steering wheel and physical buttons for key functions. Satellite navigation is included as standard, as are wireless Apple CarPlay™/Android Auto™ and wireless smartphone charging. A simple ‘Hey Vauxhall’ is enough to activate the natural voice recognition.
Entry-level Design models offer 16-inch black steel wheels with wheel arch cladding and body-colour bumpers with black skid plates. Customers can also choose the optional Design Styling Pack on both electric and hybrid versions, which comprises 16-inch white steel wheels, a white roof and roof rails.
All models get energy-saving Intelli-LED headlights, which include LED daytime running lights and high beam assist. Design models also come with a suite of driver assistance features as standard, including rear parking sensors, a rear-view parking camera, cruise control with speed limiter, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition and driver attention alert.
On top of the generous Design specification, GS models come with aerodynamic 17-inch alloy wheels, high gloss black door mirrors and silver skid plates, as well as a black roof with tinted rear windows and LED taillights. Inside, GS models offer electronic climate control and Intelli-Seat front seats with a specific cushion design incorporating a slot that relieves pressure on the tailbone. GS trim also comes with front parking sensors to provide further peace of mind when manoeuvring, as well as blind spot alert and an electrochromatic rear-view mirror.
Further to the features offered on GS trim, the optional Ultimate Pack (available on Electric GS and Hybrid GS models) provides extra comfort and convenience with heated seats, a heated steering wheel and LED fog lamps, as well as roof rails with a 240kg load capacity.
