Mercedes-AMG F1 Team Uses All-Electric Logistics for Dutch Grand Prix

The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team has transported its W16 race cars to the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix using an all-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, among the first of its kind on the road.

The 673km journey from the team’s base in Brackley to Zandvoort – the home of one of the most sustainable races on the calendar – follows an initial pilot at the 2025 British Grand Prix.

As a sport racing globally, harnessing innovation to address the largest sources of our emissions is vital. By using Mercedes-Benz Trucks eActros 600s, we continue to diversify our use of sustainable technologies, progress our long-term Scope 3 emissions reduction and move towards our goal of Net Zero by 2030.

The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, equipped with a powerful 600kWh (Usable) Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery and a minimum range of 500km per charge, is a game changer in sustainable transport.

Thanks to its rapid charging capabilities, allowing the trucks to jump from 20% to 80% charge in 25 minutes, using the megawatt charging system (MCS), the eActros 600 delivers the efficient performance and logistical reliability that aligns with the pace and precision required in Formula One.

This milestone builds on our broader sustainable fuel strategy. After pioneering the use of HVO100 biofuel in 2022, we achieved 98% coverage of HVO100 in our race and marketing trucks and generators during the 2024 European season saving over 500 tCO2e.

The team’s long-term ambition is to extend the use of the Mercedes-Benz e-fleet across future European seasons, reinforcing the role that Formula One can play as the world’s fastest test lab.

Alice Ashpitel, Head of Sustainability, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team
“As a team, our commitment to sustainability means that we rethink how we move, not just how we race. While we are driven by performance on track, we are incredibly proud that our innovations travel beyond the grid. The use of the Mercedes-Benz Trucks eActros 600, initially piloted at our home race in July, is another important step in our decarbonisation journey.”

Ash Armstrong, eConsultancy Manager, Daimler Truck UK
“We are continuing to push the boundaries of what is possible with battery electric trucks. Our partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team is key in demonstrating that sustainable, long-haul distribution has arrived with our eActros 600. We could not be more thrilled that one of our eActros 600 trucks has been used to transport the team’s W16 cars from Brackley to Zandvoort. We are extremely proud to showcase the impressive range and capability of this truck. It just goes to show that the era of electrification is upon us and range anxiety is no longer an issue.”
