WeaveGrid and Rivian Partner On Advanced Grid-Integrated Charging Solutions

WeaveGrid, the leading provider of smart charging software for electric vehicles, and Rivian announced a collaboration to deliver new grid-integrated smart charging capabilities later this year to enable customer participation in WeaveGrid-managed utility programs.

Through these programs, customers can earn financial incentives while helping to enhance grid reliability and lower energy costs in their communities.

With more than 80% of EV charging happening at home, optimizing home charging is one of the biggest levers to reduce emissions and costs. But for OEMs, coordinating across 3,000+ U.S. utilities remains a challenge. WeaveGrid’s existing utility managed charging programs will allow Rivian drivers to shift charging to when energy is cheaper and often cleaner, while meeting the desired state of charge set by the customer.

By creating a comprehensive solution in cooperation with utilities, Rivian can reduce the costs of home charging and support a more reliable and cleaner grid for everyone.

“Our collaboration with Rivian is a significant step forward in expanding the reach and impact of our utility clients’ EV programs. This integration with Rivian’s robust software platform allows us to deliver real-time, grid-responsive charging while elevating the already premium driver experience,” said Apoorv Bhargava, Cofounder and CEO of WeaveGrid.

“Together, we’re making it easier for EVs to support grid reliability and decarbonization.” “This collaboration is an example of the impact true software-defined EVs will have in our transition to a more sustainable future—enabling Rivian customers to get more value out of their vehicles and contributing to a grid that is more reliable and cleaner for everyone,” said Wassym Bensaid, Chief Software Officer at Rivian. “Rivian has been focused on providing our drivers with a seamless, 360-degree charging experience both at home and on the road. Working with partners like Weavegrid across the country will allow us to help customers participate in utility programs that can reduce charging costs while supporting grid stability and reducing carbon emissions.”

Driver trust is foundational to Rivian’s brand, and WeaveGrid shares that commitment. WeaveGrid integrations leverage secure, OEM-authorized connections that protect customer data and ensure performance. The result is a smart charging experience that delivers long-term value to drivers and utilities alike.

Rivian’s software-first approach ensures that smart charging features can be continuously enhanced and updated based on utility and grid needs, delivering long-term value to drivers and utility partners, while enabling EV drivers to maintain a high-quality user experience and get the most value out of their vehicles.
