Volvo EX30 Cross Country: From City Streets to Mountain Trails

Sweden, with its diverse landscapes ranging from deep lakes and dense forests to towering mountain ranges and harsh winters, serves as the perfect backdrop for Volvo’s latest unveiling: the EX30 Cross Country designed to be a gateway to new experiences.

Unveiled at a fireside chat with outdoor equipment brand Fjällräven in a remote Swedish winter cabin, the EX30 Cross Country caters to those seeking adventure beyond city limits. Building on the foundation of the successful EX30, the Cross Country edition adds rugged features, making it ideal for exploring diverse terrains, regardless of weather conditions.

Volvo envisions “Cross Country” as more than just a nameplate; it’s an experience. Alongside the EX30 Cross Country, the brand is launching a dedicated experience package. This package grants customers access to accessories, gear, and information designed to maximize outdoor exploration.

“We launched our first Cross Country car over 25 years ago, and this concept of durable and all-weather cars is core to the Volvo brand,” says Jim Rowan, Volvo Cars’ CEO. He highlights the brand’s Swedish heritage, emphasizing the desire to enable customers to enjoy nature, even in challenging conditions.

City-Friendly, Trail-Ready

The EX30 Cross Country excels in urban environments. Its electric powertrain boasts a range of up to 427km and zero tailpipe emissions. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes as little as 26 minutes. However, its capabilities extend far beyond city streets.

Increased ground clearance compared to the standard EX30 facilitates navigation over rough terrain. Special, larger wheels are available, with the option for 18-inch all-terrain tires for enhanced off-road performance. All-wheel drive comes standard, ensuring confident handling in challenging conditions like snow and ice.

Style Meets Substance

Volvo’s Cross Country lineage, dating back to 1997, is known for its ability to handle diverse road conditions. The EX30 Cross Country continues this tradition, blending practicality with a distinctive aesthetic.

The front shield and boot lid feature a unique dark color, with the front showcasing a design inspired by the Kebnekaise mountain range in Arctic Sweden. Chunky front and rear skid plates, along with wheel arch extensions, complete the rugged exterior.

Functionality and Safety

The interior of the EX30 Cross Country prioritizes functionality. It retains the smart technology, storage solutions, and design elements of the original EX30. Clever storage compartments are integrated throughout, including large door pockets and a versatile central tunnel. A removable and washable storage box is available for rear passengers. The boot lid even features a “Will it fit?” guide for added convenience.

The EX30 Cross Country features Google built-in, including Google Maps. The Volvo EX30 app allows for preconditioning the car remotely. Safety remains a top priority, with advanced features designed to prevent collisions and protect occupants.

The Cross Country Experience

Volvo is enhancing the Cross Country experience with a dedicated package of benefits. EX30 Cross Country owners gain access to exclusive offers, including a discounted accessory package featuring a load carrier, roof basket, 18-inch all-terrain tires, and mudflaps. Further offers are planned for the future.

The Volvo EX30 Cross Country is available for order now in select markets, with deliveries expected to begin later this spring. This all-road SUV offers a blend of safety, comfort, and performance in a capable and adventurous package.
