Hyundai, Kia recall over 208,000 EVs for power loss risk

Hyundai and Kia are recalling over 208,000 electric vehicles due to a faulty charging control unit.

A faulty Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) charging control unit can cause a complete loss of power, significantly increasing the risk of accidents.

The affected models include:

– Hyundai: 2022-2024 Ioniq 5, 2023-2025 Ioniq 6,
– Genesis: 2023-2024 GV60, 2023-2025 GV70, and 2023-2024 G80
– Kia: 2022-2024 EV6

Dealers will inspect and replace the ICCU and its fuse, as necessary. In addition, dealers will update the ICCU software. All repairs will be performed free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 17, 2025.

A similar recall is underway in Canada for 45,974 electric vehicles from Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis.
