Spirii and Audi forge partnership to enhance premium charging experience

Spirii, a provider of EV charging platform solutions, announces its official partnership with Audi. This collaboration aims to significantly enhance the premium charging experience at Audi charging hubs by leveraging advanced technologies such as Plug&Charge through Spirii’s EV charging platform.

The Plug&Charge technology allows EVs to automatically authenticate and initiate charging when connected, thanks to an embedded software system in Audi’s electric vehicles and other Plug&Charge-enabled vehicles. This seamless interaction between the vehicle and the charger enhances convenience and streamlines the charging process.

The collaboration initially centers on Audi’s charging hubs in major German cities, addressing the challenge of fast charging in urban areas where power availability is often limited. These hubs utilize power cubes with 2nd-life and solar-powered batteries, storing energy overnight to prepare for high-demand daytime charging. Additionally, Audi can leverage Spirii’s platform to implement flexible pricing, allowing for lower rates during nighttime hours to encourage charging at off-peak times.

Tore Harritshøj, CEO and co-founder of Spirii, comments: “At Spirii, we’re thrilled to partner with a forward-thinking company like Audi, who are fully equipped to embrace the latest charging technologies, such as Plug&Charge. I’m confident that our combined efforts will enhance the charging experience and drive sustainable urban mobility forward.”

Ralph Hollmig, Senior Director Premium Charging at AUDI AG, adds: “This partnership with Spirii aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing premium and seamless experiences for our EV drivers. As a premium car brand, Audi strives to offer premium charging experience, necessitating a premium back-end solution. In Spirii, we found future-proof partner capable of raising the bar for the entire EV industry.”

The Audi charging hubs provide high power charging services and are open to the public, regardless of car brand.

The Audi charging hubs will be visible in the myAudi App including an Audi-only reservation possibility, Spirii’s charging app, Spirii Go, the navigation systems across all VW Group cars, and in the majority of the charging apps and maps in the market.

The Audi charging hubs are additionally part of the Selected Partners Network of Elli, an electric mobility service provider (eMSP) within the VW Group.
