GWM ORA 03 gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

GWM ORA UK has confirmed the launch of its latest software update for ORA 03 which enables a key entertainment feature: wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

This new update, which is available to all current and future customers free of charge, will be administered via the brands existing network of retailers, consisting of over 30 sites across the UK.

When starting a journey in ORA 03 for the first time, Apple and Android users will be greeted with a message on the integrated infotainment screen that prompts users to connect and activate Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Customers can then enjoy the usual benefits of the system, with features like: traffic optimised navigation, music, access to calls and messages, voice assistance, third party apps and more.

This new update has been designed and extensively tested so that it works seamlessly with ORA 03’s two 10.25in split screens, with navigation extending to the driver display screen as well as the main infotainment screen. Customers can also still access GWM ORA features like ‘Hello ORA’ voice assistant, which can perform commands for vehicle functions like climate control, window operation, ChargePoint location, radio and more.

Following this update, GWM ORA is also planning to introduce over the air updates (OTA) that will offer customers even greater flexibility when installing new versions of software in the future.

GWM ORA now has two model variants of ORA 03 on sale in the UK, PURE+ and PRO+. The former comes equipped with a high level of specification as standard, including: a 48kWh battery with 193 miles of WLTP range, wireless phone charging, facial recognition, electric front seats, app integration and ‘Hello ORA’ intelligent voice assistance. ORA 03 PRO+ offers an upgraded 63kWh battery with 260 miles of WLTP range and additional features like: heated, cooled and massage front seats, heated steering-wheel, panoramic sunroof, powered gesture tailgate, rear privacy glass and advanced automatic parking assistance.
