IONITY is advancing emission-free electric mobility in Europe with the expansion of its ultra-fast charging network. As a key market and main transit country, Germany plays a crucial role in this. In Merklingen near Ulm, IONITY has now opened one of its largest charging stations with a total of 24 HPC charging points.
A wide range of catering services and a charging capacity of up to 350 kW ensure a quick and convenient charging stop on long journeys. This is also the first IONITY site poviding HYC400 chargers from the Italian manufacturer Alpitronic: with two power outlets per charger they will complement IONITY’s 350 kW offering.
As a result, the number of HPC charging points at IONITY sites along European highways and major rooads will grow more rapidly.
IONITY stands for High Power Charging with 350 kW: customers can charge their electric car with green energy in just a few minutes. The award-winning design of the IONITY charger with the typical HALO is internationally renowned. IONITY is now complementing its existing range of 350 kW HALO chargers with chargers from the Alpitronic HYC400 series.
The new chargers have two power outlets with a capacity of max. 200 kW each. As an ‘all-in-one’ solution, they do not require an external control cabinet and can therefore be integrated flexibly into existing and new IONITY locations.
“We have ambitious expansion plans along the German and European highways and major travel routes,” says Christoph Strecker, Country Manager in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH) at IONITY. “Just in time for the travel season around the turn of the year, IONITY is opening a large number of new, large charging stations with a high-quality range of services on the main traffic routes A3, A7, A8 and A9 in Germany. These are based on the example of the IONITY Merklingen site.” IONITY already operates five charging stations on the A8 between Munich and Stuttgart, a sixth station is currently under construction.
