Electrify America Collaborates with EVNoire to Advance Electric Vehicle Education and Access in Diverse, African American Communities in California

Electrify America announced a collaboration with EVNoire Mobility Intelligence Consulting Group in a campaign to increase awareness and accelerate adoption of electric vehicles in diverse, African American communities throughout California.

Electrify America’s investment will support the development and launch of a communications campaign focused on research, education and engagement by EVNoire, an award-winning, minority-owned and led organization whose work centers on E-Mobility and equity best practices.

The overall campaign will also help ensure that underrepresented communities interested in EV adoption have access to all of the financial assistance and case management support available. EVNoire’s initiatives will help consumers navigate California’s significant amount of available incentives and resources.

Funding from Electrify America will enable EVNoire, the co-founders of the nation’s largest network of diverse EV drivers and enthusiasts, to facilitate a communications campaign to normalize zero-emission transportation for African American communities. A major goal of the effort will be to increase awareness and provide access to educational resources around the benefits of E-Mobility, as well as highlight equitable opportunities and resources available to adopt EVs.

The collaboration with Electrify America will help expand EVNoire’s “Drive the Future California” campaign, an initiative that will engage with and educate California’s African American communities on the opportunities and benefits of driving electric.  Through storytelling and digital grassroots engagement, this campaign will showcase a variety of real-world, affordable EV options available and will engage their network of members, EV enthusiasts and others across the state to share their EV experiences to inspire further access to driving electric.

“Electrify America is proud to join with EVNoire’s mission to bring E-Mobility opportunities and climate justice to all communities, especially those who are impacted worst and first by transportation emissions,” said Will Berry, social responsibility manager, Electrify America. “We are committed to EV education and accessibility to diverse communities across California and the nation to help support a clean transportation future that benefits everyone.”

EVNoire’s market research shows many African American communities in both California and nationally have a growing interest and propensity to adopt clean mobility solutions, specifically electric vehicles. Their work to bring E-Mobility to new EV drivers is an essential path to help communities reduce the reliance on fossil fuels and to have access to cleaner and more sustainable transportation.

“EVNoire is on the forefront of accelerating EV adoption by creating best practices with E-Mobility, equity and environmental public health for all communities including underserved and diverse communities across the U.S.,” said Dr. Shelly Francis, co-founder of EVNoire. “Support from Electrify America will help enable continued community engagement efforts and drive EV adoption for equitable clean transportation solutions.”

The announcement brings Electrify America’s total investment in California community-based programs to nearly $6 million over the past two years, as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to promote zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) adoption in low-income and disadvantaged communities throughout the state. In 2019, Electrify America invested a total of $82.4 million in these California communities by providing education, access, charging infrastructure, and services to promote ZEV driving, including $10 million in education and marketing.
