August 2017 plug-in sales in Belgium

The Belgian PEV market registered 1,025 plug-in passenger cars last month, up 47% Year-on-Year.

Breaking down sales by model, the best-selling model in August was the Mercedes GLC350e, with 203 units, followed by the BMW 530e (83 units) and the new Porsche Panamera PHEV (76).

The best-selling BEV last month was the Tesla Model S, with 51 deliveries, a nameplate that is also the #1 BEV in 2017, with 417 registrations.

In the YTD PEV ranking, plug-in hybrids continue to rule, with the Mercedes GLC350e leading, with 1,316 registrations, followed by the second placed BMW X5 PHEV (1,084 units), while in third place we have another BMW model, with 330e overcoming its 225xe Active Tourer sibling and winning the last place in the podium, with 634 registrations.

In the Light Commercial Vehicles (N1) category, sales were down a worryingly 66% in August, to only 9 units, dragging down 24% the 2017 tally to just 83 units, with the Nissan e-NV200 leading the ranking, with 38 registrations.

The much expected 33 kWh Renault Kangoo ZE is expected to give this vehicle category a needed sales boost in the coming months.

In the CNG passenger car market, sales are up 12% YoY to 1,610 units, with the N1 category in much better shape, growing 231% YoY, to 357 units.

As for the LPG M1 market, sales are up 42% this year, to 151 units.
