With 482 new plug-in electric passenger cars registered last month in Austria, registrations were up 30% regarding May 2016, with year-to-date sales now at 2 534 units, up 25% year on year.
The ranking had a 100% electric vehicle podium, with the BMW i3 leading the pack, with 98 registrations, followed by the Renault Zoe (77 units) and the VW e-Golf (64 units, best result in over a year).
Interestingly, all these three models had recently benefited from battery upgrades, which confirms the importance of increased range in the recent BEV sales uptick.
In the YTD ranking, the Renault Zoe still leads, with 498 units, but the BMW i3 is closing in, now with 447 registrations, while the Tesla Model S is third, with 291 deliveries.
In the manufacturers ranking, BMW (25%) surpassed Renault (20% Share) in the race for leadership, with the third placed Tesla (17%) looking to reach the front duo.
