The German plug-in electric vehicle market is back at positive ground, up 21% Year-on-Year, having registered 1.699 units in August, with the Year-to-date registrations up 7% and the PEV market share at 0,61%.
The Renault Zoe was once again the leader in August, with 256 units, followed by the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (157 registrations) and the all-electric version of the BMW i3 (147 units), it’s best performance in two years, no doubt benefitting from the new 33kWh version.
An interesting stat on the last month results of the BMW i3 BEV and Rex versions, is that for the first time in 10 months, the all-electric version has outsold its range-extended brethren (147 vs 133 units), which might indicate that buyers feel more confident in going BEV with the increased range of the 33 kWh version.
In the Year-to-date ranking in Germany, the Renault Zoe (1.836 units) reigns supreme, followed by the Tesla Model S, with 978 registrations, and the Audi A3 e-Tron (908 units).
