All major automakers are posting April sales numbers for plug-in electric vehicles.

Nissan LEAF Sales of the all-electric Nissan LEAF totaled 979 units, down 53.5% compared to May of 2015 when Nissan sold 2,104 LEAF EV’s. In terms of year-to-date results in 2016, sales of the Nissan LEAF now stand at 4,679, which is down by 39.3% compared with 2015 when 7,742 were sold. Nissan introduced the 2016 all-electric LEAF with an available 30 kWh battery that provides an EPA-estimated range of 107 miles – a 27-percent increase over the previous 24 kWH battery. | |
Chevrolet Volt 2016 Chevrolet Volt sold 1,901 units last month, up 17.5 percent compared to May of 2015 when Chevy sold 1,618 Volts. Overall for the year, 7,871 Chevrolet Volt plug-ins have been sold, which is up by 79% compared to 2015 when 4,397 units were sold. | |
Toyota Prius Plug-in Prius Plug-in Hybrid sold just 4 units last month. Previously in April, March and February, Toyota sold 4, 7 and 6 Prius Plug-ins respectively. Last year, sales of the Prius Plug-in Hybrid were at 4,191. The next generation Prius Prime PHV will come in the second half of 2016 as a 2017 model car. | |
Ford C-Max Energi Ford C-MAX Energi sold 538 units in May. Previously in April, Ford sold 607 C-MAX Energi plug-ins. Overall for the year, 2,595 C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrids have been sold. | |
Ford Fusion Energi Ford Fusion Energi finished last month with 1,453 deliveries, after selling 1,331 in April and 1,238 in March. In terms of year-to-date results in 2016, sales of the Ford Fusion Energi now stand at 5,535, which is up by 39.3% compared with 2015 when 3,563 were sold. | |
Cadillac ELR GM sold 45 Cadillac ELRs last month. In terms of year-to-date, sales of the Cadillac ELR now stand at 402, which is down by 24.3% compared with 2015 when 531 were sold. General Motors has pulled the plug on the Cadillac ELR after years of dismal sales. Cadillac only managed to sell 1,354 units of the ELR in 2014, while only 1,024 were delivered during last year. | |
Porsche Panamera S-E Hybrid Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrids finished last month with 26 deliveries. Previously in April and March, Panamera S E-Hybrid sold 25 and 23 units respectively. Overall for the year, 134 Panamera S E-Hybrids have been sold. | |

BMW 330e The all-new BMW 330e sold 67 units during the month, after selling 25 units in April. The BMW 330e features an electric motor and the BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine for a total system output of 248 HP. In everyday driving conditions, a total range of approximately 370 miles is attainable. The eDrive technology allows for approximately 22 miles in all-electric mode. Mitsubishi i Mitsubishi sold 2 i-MiEV electric car in May, after selling 6 units in April, 1 unit in March, 5 units in February and 2 units in January. Last year, 115 i-MiEV EVs have been sold. The 2016 Mitsubishi i-MiEV will arrive at Mitsubishi dealers across the United States in late March 2015. With a starting MSRP of only $22,995, the 2016 i-MiEV is the most affordably-priced electric vehicle available in America today, and after factoring in the Federal tax credit of $7,500, the net starting MSRP is reduced to $15,495. | |
