All major automakers are posting April sales numbers for plug-in electric vehicles.

Sales of the all-electric Nissan LEAF set an April record, increasing 7.8 percent to 2,088. Nissan has seen sales of LEAF, the world’s best-selling electric car, increase 33 percent so far in 2014. In terms of year-to-date results in 2014, sales of the Nissan LEAF now stand at 7,272, an improvement of 33% compared with 2013 when 5,476 were sold.
The Chevrolet Volt sold 1,548 units last month, up 18.5 percent over last year’s 1,306 Volts sold. Previously in March, Volt sold 1,478 units. In terms of year-to-date results in 2014, sales of the Chevrolet Volt now stand at 5,154 units. That’s is 7.1 percent less than last year’s total through April of 5,550.
|Toyota Prius Plug-in|
The Prius Plug-in Hybrid achieved 1,471 sales last month, which is up 179% compared to April of 2013. Previously in March, Toyota Prius Plug-in sold 1,452 units. In terms of year-to-date results in 2014, sales of the Prius Plug-in Hybrid now stand at 5,037, an improvement of 70.6% compared with 2013.
|Ford C-Max Energi|
Ford C-MAX Energi sold 525 plug-ins, which is down 15% compared to March. Overall for the year, 2,188 Ford C-MAX Energi plug-ins have been sold, a 38.7% improvement of 2013 when 1,577 were moved.
|Ford Fusion Energi|
The Ford Fusion Energi achieved 743 sales last month. Previously in March, Ford Fusion Energi sold 899 units. Overall Ford has now sold 2,211 Fusion Energi plug-ins, which is off 379.7% more than the first 4 months of last year when they sold 778.
GM sold 61 Cadillac ELRs, which brings the total amount sold in the first 4 months to 241 units. The 2014 Cadillac ELR has a starting price of $75,995, including a $995 destination charge but excluding tax, title, license and dealer fees.
|Porsche Panamera S-E Hybrid|
Porsche sold 63 Panamera S E-Hybrids last month. Previously in March, Panamera S E-Hybrid sold 56 units, while in January it sold 141 units. In terms of year-to-date results in 2014, sales of the Panamera S E-Hybrid now stand at 317 units.
|Tesla Model S – No Sales Data to Report|
Tesla Motors does not report monthly sales like every other automaker. Tesla Motors said that it delivered 6,892 Model S electric sedans in the fourth quarter of 2013. Tesla delivered 22,477 Model S electric sedans in 2013. Tesla sees Model S deliveries increasing to 7,400 in the first quarter, and hitting 35,000 total for 2014.
|Ford Focus Electric|
Deliveries of the Ford Focus Electric were 116 in April. In March, deliveries of the Focus Electric were 177. Overall Ford has now sold 522 Focus Electric EVs.
|BMW i3– No Sales Data to Report|
Sales of the BMW i3 all-electric city car are expected to start this month. The BMW i3 will start at $41,350 (without $925 for Destination & Handling) before any federal or state incentives.
|Honda Fit EV|
Honda sold 34 Fit EVs in April. Previously in March, Honda FIT EV sold 37 units. Honda Fit EV production will be halted this fall when the automaker produces its 1,100th Fit EV. With the Fit EV being halted this fall, Honda will be left without a all-electric vehicle to compete in the growing segment.
|Toyota RAV4 EV|
Toyota RAV4 EV sold 69 units last month. Toyota RAV4 EV sold 73 units in March. In terms of year-to-date results in 2014, sales of the Toyota RAV4 EV now stand at 306 units.
|Honda Accord Plug-in|
The 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid logged 37 units last month. Previously in March, February and January, Accord Plug-in Hybrid sold 18, 24 and 27 units respectively.
|Smart Fortwo Electric Drive|
Last month, smart fortwo ED sold 203 units, after selling 186 units in March, 122 units February and 97 units in January. In terms of year-to-date results in 2014, sales of the smart fortwo ED now stand at 608 units.
For April, Fiat 500e sold 152 units, which brings the total amount sold in the first 4 months to 448 units. The 2013 Fiat 500e is priced at $32,500, which includes a $700 destination charge. However, eligible California residents may be able to purchase the 2013 Fiat 500e for as low as $20,500, after federal credits.
|Chevrolet Spark EV|
GM sold 97 Chevrolet Spark EVs in April. Previously in March, February and January, Spark EV sold 108, 71 and 93 units respectively. In terms of year-to-date results in 2014, sales of the Chevrolet Spark EV now stand at 369.
Mitsubishi sold 12 i-MiEV electric cars in April. Previously in March, Mitsubishi sold 34 i-MiEV electric cars. 2014 Mitsubishi i-MiEV will start at $22,995 including CHAdeMO DC quick charge port when it goes on sale this spring, representing a $6,130 reduction from the starting price of the 2012 model that preceded it.
