Tesla Model S was the best selling car in Norway in September, with a 5.1% market share overall, beating the models made by Volkswagen and Toyota.
A total of 616 Tesla Model S sedans were sold in Norway last month, putting the vehicle slightly ahead of the Volkswagen Golf and Toyota Auris .
Since introducing in August, Tesla sold over 800 Model S electric sedans in Norway.
A new Tesla Model S costs between 450,000 Norwegian kroner and 600,000 kroner (between $75,000 and $100,000) including government subsidies. It is exempt from taxes that apply to new petrol cars, and those would have added add several hundred thousand Norwegian kroner to the Tesla’s price tag.
Sales of the Nissan LEAF has remained strong in September. Nissan sold 349 LEAF EVs, accounting 2.9% of the entire vehicle market.
Consumers across Norway purchased 1044 plug-in vehicles which represents 8.6% market share. Tesla Model S and Nissan LEAF together grabbed 85% of the EV market in Norway.
Overall, Norway now has 15.850 plug-in cars on its roads. Of these, 15,227 are electric cars and 623 are plug-in hybrids.
