July 2013 Plug-in Vehicle Sales [update]

All major automakers are posting July sales numbers for plug-in electric vehicles.

NOTE: This article is updated throughout the day as soon as more data is available.

2013-Nissan-LeafNissan LEAF
Sales of Nissan LEAF in July were 1,864 units, down from 2,225 units in June, but 371.9 percent over a year’s ago number. In terms of year-to-date results in 2013, sales of the Nissan LEAF now stand at 11,703, an increase of 230.3 percent over the same period in 2012.
2013-Chevrolet-VoltChevrolet Volt
The Chevrolet Volt sold 1,788 units in July, down from 2,698 units in June. In terms of year-to-date results in 2013, sales of the Chevrolet Volt now stand at 11,643 units. GM is offering $5,000 off the 2012, and $4,000 off the 2013, and a $269 lease for 36 months with $2,399 due at signing.
2013-Prius-Plug-inToyota Prius Plug-in
Deliveries of the Toyota Prius Plug-In in July were 817 units, up from 584 units in June, and 14 percent over a year’s ago number. In terms of year-to-date results in 2013, sales of the Toyota Prius Plug-in now stand at 5,031 units.
2013-C-Max-EnergiFord C-Max Energi
Ford sold 433 C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrids in July, down from 455 in June. In terms of year-to-date results in 2013, sales of the C-MAX Energi now stand at 3,095 units.
2013-Fusion-EnergiFord Fusion Energi
Ford sold 407 Fusion Energi plug-in hybrids in July. In terms of year-to-date results in 2013, sales of the Ford Fusion Energi stand at 1,991 units.
2013-Tesla-Model-STesla Model S – No Sales Data to Report
Tesla Motors does not report monthly sales like every other automaker. We’ll find out how many Model S sedans Tesla sold from April through June when it reports its second-quarter financial results later this month.
2013-Focus-EVFord Focus Electric
Deliveries of the Ford Focus Electric were 150 in June, up from 177 units in June. In terms of year-to-date results in 2013, sales of the Ford Focus Electric now stand at 1,050 units.
2013-Mitsubishi-iMitsubishi i
Sales of the Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric car in July were 46, which brings the year-to-date total to 928 units.
2013-Honda-Fit-EVHonda Fit EV
Honda sold 63 Fit EVs in July, bringing the year’s total to 354. The company had its best-ever month in June with 208 Fit EVs sold. Honda announced in May that it has cut the monthly lease payment on its Fit EV from $389 to $259 and also is cutting the payment for those who already had leased the vehicle.
2013-Toyota-RAV4-EVToyota RAV4 EV
Toyota RAV4 EV sold 109 electric SUVs in July, down from 84 units in May 2013. In terms of year-to-date results in 2013, sales of the Toyota RAV4 EV now stand at 517 units.
2013-Honda-Accord-Plug-inHonda Accord Plug-in
The 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid logged 54 units last month. In terms of year-to-date results in 2013, sales 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid now stand at 254 units.
2013-Smart-Fortwo-EDSmart Fortwo Electric Drive
The smart fortwo electric drive went on sale on May-15 with starting price of $25,000, while the cabriolet is priced at $28,000 before federal credits. Last month, smart fortwo ED sold 58 units, which brings the total amount sold in the first 2.5 months to 173 units.
2013-Fiat-500eFiat 500e – No Sales Data to Report
FIAT Brand North America announced official pricing details of the 2013 Fiat 500e electric vehicle as it launches in the Golden State this July. The 2013 Fiat 500e is priced at $32,500, which includes a $700 destination charge. However, eligible California residents may be able to purchase the 2013 Fiat 500e for as low as $20,500, after federal credits.
Spark-EVChevrolet Spark EV
July marked GM’s second month of sales for the 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV. GM sold 103 units last month in California and Oregon only. MSRP for the 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV 1LT starts at $27,495 – as low as $19,995 net of the full federal tax credit which ranges from $0 to $7,500 – and includes $810 destination freight charge.
