This is the new Bluebird GTL racing car, designed to contest the FIA Formula E world series electric car street racing championships that commence in 2014.
It is currently just a design concept, built for aerodynamic testing work, which will be carrying out this summer. The first track-ready vehicle is scheduled to be tested by the end of September.
As explained by those working on this project, the Bluebird GTL and Formula E are meant to prove that circuit electric racing can entertain people as much as your present days car races do, at the same time keeping the environmental impact down to a minimum.
In a statement given to The Charging Point, a Bluebird official, Don Wales stated that “Formula-E represents the birth of a new era for us. Where we struggle with [financial] support for land speed record attempts, the circuit racing car is going to be more attractive to potential sponsors. Formula-E really is the future, definitely. Electric racing, with the FIA behind it, is going to be a big thing, and if we’re in it at the dawn of that then Bluebird should be a very strong brand for the future.”[wzslider height=”400″ lightbox=”true”]
