Dutch electric vehicle charging station manufacturer Alfen and Coulomb Technologies announced that Alfen’s ICU Twin public charging station is the latest to be compatible with Coulomb’s ChargePoint Network.
The ChargePoint Network provides station owners with cloud-based service plans that handle all driver billing and support, and give them the control and flexibility needed for successful charging operations.
Alfen is Coulomb’s newest ChargePoint On-Ramp Program partner.
In related news, Coulomb also announced it will partner with TomTom for an industry-first partnership to extend ChargePoint Network driver services into electric vehicles (EV). The partnership will help to fuel EV adoption by reducing range anxiety, extending driving range and maximizing the EV driving experience by bringing charging station location, navigation and reservation services right to a driver’s dashboard.
TomTom’s navigation platforms can use the open ChargePoint Network Web Services API to assist drivers to:
– find the nearest available charging station
– navigate to a destination and optimize the route for the nearest available charging stations
– reserve a charging station in advance for a time that is best for the route and the needed charging time
– access charging station information including power, connector type, availability, and pricing
A demonstration of both technology partnerships will be shown at the Plug-in 2011 show in the Coulomb Technologies booth #121, July 18 – 21 in Raleigh, NC.
