Daimler AG has revealed the Smart Forspeed Electric Roadster ahead of its debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show next week.
The Smart Forspeed is an electric roadster designed to complete Smart’s electric vehicle line-up, which also includes a bicycle and a scooter.
Smart said it created the Forspeed electric roadster to show that driving a green car with no emissions can be fun.
The Forspeed concept has a range of 135km (84 miles) and is powered by a 30 kW electric motor installed at the rear of the car.
The Smart Forspeed reaches the 60 km/h (37 mph) in 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph).
Outside, the Forspeed provides a fresh interpretation of Smart’s styling language. The body is soft and bulbous, giving an indication of the direction of future Smart design.
The head- and taillights mirror each other, with two large LED rings and a round, white center section that doesn’t illuminate.
Smart will officially reveal the Forspeed Concept at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show on March 1st.[wzslider height=”400″ lightbox=”true”]
