Trexa has released a base price of $15,999 for its scalable electric vehicle development platform.
The design possibilities promised by the EV platform of course means that pricing will vary depending on the components required, but the $15,999 is surprisingly affordable base price for starting block of your new electric car.
“The only way to reduce cost of electric drive technology is through competition and innovation,” says TREXA’s CEO, Seth Seaberg. If we are to make a real difference, there must be a groundswell of hundreds, even thousands of new companies competing to develop the clean transportation solutions of tomorrow. We believe that it’s time we put the automotive industry back into the hands of the people, by offering them a cost-effective, well-supported vehicle platform to design and build for.”
The $15,999 price is for the base model, which has a top speed of 100mph, an acceleration of 0-60mph in 8 seconds.
The standard Trexa’s range is 105 miles with a 4-hour recharge time, but each of these details can be tweaked– a larger battery can provide a larger range, while switching to a slower acceleration will conserve battery use as well.
The california-based company said it will release more detailed pricing options later this year.
