Rimac Automobili announced a limited production of 88 examples of its Concept_One electric supercars, each fetching $980,000.
Rimac brought the Concept_One to the Top Marques Monaco event earlier this week, where it officially opened its books for reservations and deposits ahead of deliveries in 2013.
The 1,088hp Rimac Concept_One debuted last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It features a 92kW LiFePO4 (lithium-iron phosphate) battery pack and four liquid-cooled electric motors, one mounted in each wheel of the car.
The Rimac Concept_One has a 372-mile range (600 km), a top speed limited to 185 mph (305 km/h) and a 0-to-62 (100 km/h) time of just 2.8 seconds.
Because each wheel of the Concept_One has its own electric motor, ordinary tires just wouldn’t do. That’s why Rimac turned to Vredestein in the Netherlands for the ultimate in rubber. Designed by Giugiaro, the Vredestein Ultrac Vorti is on display on the Concept_One during Top Marques Monaco in sizes 245/35 R 20 (front) and 295/30 R 20 (rear).[wzslider height=”400″ lightbox=”true”]
