IVECO BUS has unveiled its new eFLEXY Line electric minibus at FIAA in Madrid, marking the European premiere of a compact zero-emission vehicle designed for shuttle, local line and interurban transport.
The eFLEXY Line joins the previously introduced eFLEXY City, giving IVECO BUS two fully electric minibus variants aimed at the growing M2 passenger transport segment. Both models measure six metres in length and are designed to provide operators with a flexible solution for urban, suburban and short-distance transportation.
The new range expands IVECO BUS’s electric portfolio beyond larger city and interurban buses, which already includes vehicles ranging from compact passenger transport solutions to 12- and 13-metre interurban buses and 18-metre articulated city buses.
IVECO BUS eFLEXY Line Designed for Shuttle and Interurban Services
The eFLEXY Line is designed as a Class B electric minibus for local connections, shuttle services and interurban routes. It can accommodate up to 13 passengers in addition to the driver, making it suitable for a variety of passenger transport applications.
A continuous flat floor improves accessibility throughout the cabin, while a retractable hydraulic lift positioned beneath the floor provides wheelchair access. Flexible seating configurations and individual touring-style seats are combined with approximately 3 square metres of luggage space, giving the minibus a more practical layout for longer journeys.
Large side windows and a glazed tailgate allow more natural light into the cabin, creating a brighter interior for passengers.
The second version, the eFLEXY City, is a Class A electric minibus designed primarily for urban routes and restricted-access areas. Depending on the configuration, it can carry up to 17 passengers, including seated and standing passengers as well as wheelchair users.
Its 1,200-mm side door is designed to make boarding faster, while the retractable rear hydraulic lift improves accessibility. The interior is configured to maximise available passenger space and help reduce dwell times on urban routes.
110 kWh Battery Delivers More Than 300 km of Range
Both eFLEXY models use a 205-kW electric motor and a high-density 110 kWh battery pack. IVECO BUS says the electric minibuses can deliver more than 300 km of range, depending on operating conditions.
Weight optimisation is another important part of the design. Aluminium panels and ABS trim help reduce vehicle weight while maintaining the required durability for daily passenger transport.
Charging can be carried out using AC power at up to 22 kW or DC fast charging at up to 150 kW. With the maximum DC charging rate, the battery can recover up to 80% of its capacity in less than one hour.
That combination of range and charging capability is intended to give operators greater flexibility when planning daily routes and charging schedules.
Multiple Driving Modes Help Maximise Electric Range
The eFLEXY Line and eFLEXY City also feature three driving modes and four levels of regenerative braking.
These settings allow operators and drivers to adjust the vehicle’s energy management according to traffic conditions, road gradients and the type of route being operated. The system can therefore be used across stop-and-go urban routes, suburban connections, interurban services and demand-responsive transportation.
IVECO BUS has also focused on making the new electric minibuses relatively easy to drive. The company says the driving experience is similar to that of a passenger car, with an ergonomic driver area incorporating touch interfaces, infotainment, smartphone connectivity and navigation functions.
Level 2+ advanced driver assistance systems and compliance with the latest European General Safety Regulation requirements add further safety technology to the compact electric buses.
Connected Services Support Electric Fleet Operations
IVECO BUS is pairing the eFLEXY range with a connected services ecosystem designed to help operators manage electric fleets.
The eStart package is included as standard for three years and provides access through the IVECO ON portal to information such as battery state of charge, estimated remaining range, charging progress and vehicle performance.
Additional functions including eRemote, eRange Assurance and Uptime Monitoring & Management allow operators to schedule charging, precondition the passenger compartment, receive alerts and anticipate maintenance requirements.
Optional Premium Add-ons expand the system with charging and fleet-management features. These include access to more than 350,000 public charging points through the eCharge Solution, along with fleet reports designed to help operators analyse vehicle usage, costs and operational performance.
A dedicated driver app provides information on vehicle status, remaining range and charging plans, giving drivers another tool for managing electric operations.
eFLEXY Electric Minibuses Arrive in 2027
The IVECO BUS eFLEXY Line and eFLEXY City represent the company’s expansion into the compact electric minibus market, targeting operators that need zero-emission vehicles for routes where larger electric buses may not be practical.
With more than 300 km of claimed range, up to 150 kW DC charging and multiple configurations for urban and interurban passenger transport, the new models are designed around the operational requirements of smaller fleets and specialised services.
First deliveries of the IVECO BUS eFLEXY Line and eFLEXY City are scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
