
BYD Commercial Vehicles is using IAA Transportation 2026 to showcase its most advanced European electric truck lineup yet, led by the new BYD ETT 44 heavy-duty electric tractor.
The company is presenting a broad portfolio of zero-emission commercial vehicles covering urban distribution, municipal operations, regional transport and long-haul logistics. Alongside its vehicles, BYD is highlighting a broader ecosystem that combines batteries, charging infrastructure, energy storage, energy management and financing solutions.
The strategy reflects BYD’s growing ambition to become a major player in Europe’s electric commercial vehicle market.
The new ETT 44 sits at the top of BYD’s commercial vehicle range and has been developed specifically as a battery-electric heavy-duty truck.
Rather than adapting an existing combustion-engine platform, BYD says the ETT 44 was designed from the ground up around electric propulsion. The result is a truck focused on efficiency, fast charging, battery technology and driver comfort while also introducing a new design direction for BYD’s heavy-duty vehicles.
The truck combines a distinctive exterior with an architecture designed around the requirements of electric long-haul transportation.
One of its most important features is BYD’s proprietary Blade Battery, which is backed by a 10-year or 1.2-million-kilometre warranty. That coverage is significantly longer than the standard warranty periods commonly offered on commercial vehicles and their batteries in Europe.
For fleet operators, the extended battery warranty could become an important factor when calculating the long-term cost of switching from diesel to electric trucks.
BYD Brings 1.5 MW FLASH Charging to Electric Trucks
Charging speed is one of the biggest challenges for long-distance electric trucking, and BYD is addressing it with its FLASH Charging technology.
The company says the system can deliver up to 1.5 MW of charging power, allowing the ETT 44 to charge from 20% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes.
According to BYD, that charging session can add up to 248 miles of driving range.
The technology is designed to reduce charging downtime and allow electric trucks to spend more time working rather than waiting for their batteries to recharge.
Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD, said the company has already implemented FLASH Charging in passenger vehicles and is now bringing the technology to commercial trucks.

More Than an Electric Truck
BYD’s strategy at IAA Transportation 2026 extends beyond the vehicles themselves.
The company is positioning its commercial vehicle business around what it calls Total Cost of Mobility (TCM). The concept combines vehicle efficiency, charging, electricity costs, infrastructure utilization, energy management, financing and lifecycle considerations into a single approach.
That could help address one of the major barriers to commercial fleet electrification: the fact that switching to electric vehicles involves considerably more than simply replacing diesel trucks with battery-powered alternatives.
BYD’s vertically integrated business model gives the company control over several parts of that ecosystem, including its battery technology, electric vehicles, charging solutions and energy storage systems.
The company believes this approach can simplify fleet electrification while helping operators improve vehicle uptime and control operating costs.
A Wider Range of Electric Commercial Vehicles
The ETT 44 is the headline model at IAA Transportation 2026, but BYD is also displaying a wider range of electric commercial vehicles.
The lineup includes rigid trucks, vocational vehicles and yard tractors, allowing the company to target applications ranging from urban deliveries to specialized industrial operations and logistics hubs.
All of the vehicles are built around the same broader technology strategy, giving fleet customers access to BYD’s battery, charging and energy-management ecosystem.
This is increasingly important as European fleets face pressure to reduce emissions while maintaining productivity and controlling operating costs.
BYD Targets Europe’s Electric Truck Market
The ETT 44 represents a significant step in BYD’s push into the European commercial vehicle sector.
While BYD has already established a strong presence in electric passenger cars, commercial vehicles represent a much larger opportunity for battery-electric technology to reduce diesel consumption and fleet emissions.
The combination of long-range electric trucks, high-power charging and integrated energy solutions could give BYD a broader proposition for fleet operators than simply selling an electric truck.
The company says its goal is to become a preferred partner for sustainable commercial transportation in Europe.
With the ETT 44, 1.5 MW FLASH Charging and an expanding range of electric commercial vehicles, BYD is signaling that its ambitions in Europe extend well beyond passenger cars.
The next challenge will be turning the technology on display at IAA Transportation 2026 into large-scale fleet deployments across European markets.
