KGM Musso EV Debuts in the UK as a Practical All-Electric Pickup

KGM Motors has officially unveiled the all-new Musso EV, marking the brand’s first fully electric pickup truck for the UK market. Formerly known as SsangYong, KGM is stepping into the growing electric pickup segment with a model that blends traditional utility with modern EV efficiency.

Designed for both business users and lifestyle buyers, the Musso EV aims to deliver strong capability without sacrificing comfort—offering a compelling alternative to diesel-powered pickups.

Built for Work and Everyday Use

Drawing on more than five decades of pickup heritage, the Musso EV combines real-world usability with a modern design. It offers the kind of toughness expected from a workhorse, while integrating SUV-like refinement inside the cabin.

With a towing capacity of up to 2.3 tonnes and a payload of 690 kg, the Musso EV maintains serious working credentials. A reinforced tailgate—capable of supporting up to 150 kg—adds extra versatility, doubling as seating for outdoor activities.

Electric Powertrain and Range

At the core of the Musso EV is an 80.6 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery supplied by BYD. Using advanced cell-to-pack technology, the system delivers a WLTP range of up to 240 miles.

Fast-charging capabilities allow the battery to go from 20% to 80% in just 31 minutes using a 300 kW DC charger. The inclusion of Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality means users can power tools, equipment, or even leisure gear directly from the vehicle—an increasingly valuable feature for both work sites and outdoor adventures.

Drivers can also fine-tune energy recovery through three levels of regenerative braking, adjustable via steering wheel paddles. The system intelligently adapts to road gradients, traffic conditions, and speed zones to improve efficiency.

Performance and Capability

The Musso EV features dual electric motors delivering a combined 207 PS and 339 Nm of torque. A full-time all-wheel-drive system continuously monitors traction and redistributes torque to maintain stability across varying surfaces.

Additional features like self-levelling suspension and a robust chassis further enhance its load-carrying and towing performance, making it suitable for demanding tasks.

Modern Design and Interior Comfort

Visually, the Musso EV stands out with a bold front grille, LED lighting, and muscular wheel arches. The design seamlessly integrates the cabin and load bed, giving it a sleek yet rugged appearance.

Inside, the pickup leans heavily into SUV territory. A panoramic dual-screen setup combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch infotainment display powered by Athena 2.0.

Comfort features include heated and ventilated front seats, 8-way power-adjustable seating with lumbar support, and heated rear seats with generous legroom and reclining function.

The result is a cabin that prioritizes comfort just as much as utility.

Safety and Driver Assistance

KGM has equipped the Musso EV with a strong safety package, including a body structure made from 78% high-tensile steel and eight airbags.

Driver assistance technologies include:

– Adaptive Cruise Control
– Autonomous Emergency Braking
– Lane Keeping Assist
– Blind Spot Detection
– 3D Around-View Monitoring

Availability and Pricing

The KGM Musso EV will arrive in the UK for customer test drives starting in May 2026. Pricing begins at £42,495 (including VAT), factoring in the £2,500 Plug-in Van Grant.

A New Contender in the Electric Pickup Market

With the Musso EV, KGM is entering a niche but rapidly expanding segment. By combining practical capability, competitive range, and modern tech, it positions itself as a strong option for buyers looking to transition away from diesel without compromising on performance or usability.
