Autoservizi Troiani is expanding its fleet with 110 Mercedes-Benz eCitaro electric buses

The Italian Daimler Buses sales company will deliver a total of 110 all-electric Mercedes-Benz eCitaro low-floor city buses to Autoservizi Troiani S.r.l. by mid-2026.

The first ten solo vehicles from this order are already operating on public transport routes in the east of the Italian capital Rome – in Grotte Celoni, Ponte Mammolo, Pantano, Rebibbia, Torre Maura, Esposizione Universale di Roma and the surrounding districts. They underline Autoservizi Troiani’s commitment to environmentally friendly mobility, passenger comfort and service quality.

With the purchase of 40 Mercedes‑Benz Citaro hybrid buses at the beginning of 2024, the company started to realise its goal of fully converting local public transport to electric mobility in the suburbs of the Italian metropolis.

65 of the new 110 Mercedes-Benz eCitaro buses are equipped with NMC3 batteries, which provide each bus with a range of up to 280 kilometres without recharging. The remaining 45 units will be equipped with the next-generation NMC4 batteries. The 12-metre-long electric city buses are painted with white lettering on a dark red background – the distinctive look of Rome Municipality.

The safety systems installed in the new eCitaro meet the standards of the EU’s updated “General Safety Regulation” (GSR-B). The equipment also includes a powerful air-conditioning system. Additional high-performance particulate filters with an antiviral functional layer minimise the risk of infection when travelling in the bus, while the roll and pitch control ensures a high level of passenger comfort.

In addition to the driver, the interior of the three-door electric buses can accommodate up to 73 passengers, with 26 seats and 47 standing spaces available. Alongside the comfortable Mercedes‑Benz City Star Eco city bus seating, a manual folding ramp facilitates entry for passengers with limited mobility or parents with prams. A special-purpose area is available in the eCitaro buses for the safe transport of wheelchair users.
