New video highlights how Electric Vehicles and EV charging stations are helping in the fight for cleaner air

Clean air improves quality of life, yet the number of fossil-fueled cars on the road is making the fight for cleaner air more of an uphill battle. In a new video by Electrify America, the EV charging company explains how automakers push for more electric transportation is playing a role in the fight for a better planet.

Transportation is a major driver of harmful emissions entering the air – before the COVID-19 pandemic, up to 55% of total nitrogen oxide emissions were caused by the transportation sector. But when more people began working from home at the onset of the pandemic, fewer cars were on the road – and that led to a 20% reduction in nitrogen dioxide emissions.

Two years later, commuters are returning to their cars – and more harmful tailpipe emissions are returning with it. Yet with the increased availability of EVs, it is possible to have more cars on the road while helping make the air cleaner through reduced tailpipe emissions.

Auto companies are already working toward this by manufacturing more EVs that can travel further after just one charge – and to further spur EV adoption, the federal government is enacting policies to encourage an electric lifestyle.

But the country needs more than an increased number of EVs and policy changes. Drivers considering the switch to electric need places to charge when they’re on the road – and companies like Electrify America are meeting this need by building a coast-to-coast network of convenient, ultra-fast public charging stations where people are already driving.

With EVs helping lead the charge on more sustainable transportation, a world with cleaner air is possible.
