EVBox joins the EVRoaming Foundation to help facilitate charging for all EV drivers

In order to facilitate the best-possible driving and charging experience for all current and future EV drivers, it is important that all parties in the eMobility market are working toward the complete transparency of information across borders. Charging infrastructure should be accessible to every EV driver, no matter the country, the station, or the driver’s preferred charging card. This situation is closer to becoming reality thanks to the OCPI (Open Charge Point Interface) protocol.

With OCPI, it becomes much easier to share information about charging station locations and prices, providing EV drivers with clear and accessible information wherever they are. The ultimate goal is to allow every EV driver to charge at any station, regardless of the type of charging card or choice of eMSP (eMobility Service Provider) subscription.

The objective of the EVRoaming Foundation is to facilitate roaming services for charging electric vehicles and provide transparent information to consumers about charging locations and prices, using the open and independent Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI) protocol. The ultimate goal is to allow any EV driver to charge at any charging station: simplify, standardize, and harmonize.

The EVRoaming Foundation will facilitate the OCPI community that contributes to the new developments and is interested in the success of open roaming on a large scale. This community will include CPOs (Charge Point Operators), MSPs (Mobility Service Providers), and businesses from a variety of fields. The aim is to reduce the complexity of implementing OCPI on a functional and business level.

The first members of the board along with EVBox include Last Mile Solutions, E.ON, NKL, and Freshmile.

“I am proud that EVBox is able to help the EVRoaming Foundation take such an important step toward improving the charging experience for EV drivers around the world. OCPI can facilitate the provision of transparent information so that consumers have the information about the location of available charging points and pricing at their fingertips. In the end, it is all about creating convenience for EV drivers. Charging your car should be as easy as charging your phone, and we’re working hard to remove all of the obstacles that stand in the way of a hassle-free charging experience,” said Kristof Vereenooghe (CEO of EVBox Group).

The EVRoaming Foundation is looking to welcome new members on board to strengthen further development.
