October plug-in sales in France and Belgium

The French plug-in electric vehicle market was down slightly (-6%) in October, having registered 2.173 units last month.

Despite this hiccup, the Year-to-date registrations are up 34% to 23.838 units, making this the third largest PEV market in Europe, behind Norway and the United Kingdom.

There were no surprises at the top two positions, with the leader Renault Zoe scoring only 807 units, down 21% Year-on-year, followed by the usual runner-up Nissan Leaf (228 registrations) and the surprising Bolloré BlueCar (188 units), its best performance in a year.

The Year-to-date ranking is led by the Renault Zoe (8.972 units) in #1, followed from a far by the Nissan Leaf (3.342) and the Peugeot iOn (1.032).

Meanwhile, Belgium has registered 908 plug-in passenger cars in October, triple of what it had in the same period last year, pulling Year-to-date sales up a record 145% and making it one of the fastest growing markets in Europe.

Two luxury SUV’s are disputing the favorite PEV title this year, with the BMW X5 40e (Best seller in October, with 121 sales), trying to catch up the current year leader Volvo XC90 T8 (103 units last month), but the 281 units that separate them (1.401 units vs 1.120) might be too big for the German SUV to reach the leadership.
