Buick Velite PHEV Concept to Debut at Guangzhou Auto Show

The Buick Velite Concept will make its global debut at the Guangzhou auto show, which opens on November 18. The Velite Concept will provide a template for upcoming models being launched under the Buick Blue new energy vehicle strategy.

The development of the Velite Concept was led by the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC), GM’s engineering and design joint venture in Shanghai with SAIC, leveraging GM’s global resources.

The Velite Concept is powered by a high-performance plug-in hybrid electric vehicle powertrain that is effective, responsive and smooth. Its SIDI engine is paired with GM’s latest modular intelligent electric drive system and a high-performance modular lithium-ion battery pack, which work together to optimize efficiency under varying driving conditions.

The Velite Concept adopts forward-looking styling with rippling curves inside and out along with cutting-edge aerodynamic technology, which represent the convergence of new energy vehicles and nature.

The introduction of the Velite Concept follows August’s global debut of the Buick LaCrosse Hybrid Electric Vehicle in Shanghai. Additional products featuring HEV, PHEV and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrains are on the way from Buick to provide diverse intelligent solutions for green mobility.
