Renault and E Leclerc to Place up to 500 EV Charging Stations

Renault and French supermarket chain E Leclerc have signed a letter of intent to install charging stations for electric cars in centers’ parking lots.

Under the agreement, 50 E Leclerc centers will have charging stations by next year; 150 by the end of 2010; and 500 by 2015.

The Alliance and E Leclerc will work together to select the type of charging installation, for example a standard charge of 3 kW, a quick charge of 45 kW, or both.

Renault estimates that electric vehicles will represent around 10% of automobile sales in France by 2020.

Patrick Pélata, COO of Renault, said, “I am delighted to partner with the E.Leclerc Centers which will allow us to grow the network of charging spots in France, with their 500 stores across the country.”
