Chargemaster becomes official charging infrastructure supplier to Formula E

Formula E has announced that Chargemaster is to be the Official Charging Infrastructure Supplier to the championship.

The agreement means that Chargemaster, the UK’s leading supplier of EV charging points, will supply the wireless charging facilities for the championship’s fleet of EV course cars, which are supplied by BMW.

Chargemaster uses the Qualcomm Halo wireless charging technology that was successfully employed on the Qualcomm Safety Car and medical car during season one. In addition, Chargemaster will leave permanent EV charging stations in the host cities of the races as part of their role in Formula E’s legacy programme.

Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E, said: “We are delighted to appoint Chargemaster as the official supplier of charging infrastructure for the FIA Formula E Championship. Chargemaster is the leading provider and operator of electric vehicle charging equipment in the UK and with their assistance we can further promote the take-up of EVs in the cities that Formula E visits across the globe.”

David Martell, CEO of Chargemaster, added: “Formula E is going from strength to strength and we are delighted to be able to work with the organisation in supporting the races and promoting the use of EVs. Formula E is becoming more and more high profile and is a fantastic showcase of the performance and desirability of electric cars.”
