XPENG has officially unveiled the new G9L, a next-generation flagship SUV that combines battery-electric and range-extended electric powertrains with the company’s latest physical AI technology. The new model will be offered in 64 markets worldwide, with its global debut scheduled for October 12 at the Paris Motor Show in France.
Revealed at a launch event in Beijing, the G9L represents XPENG’s latest attempt to bring its most advanced intelligent driving and cabin technologies to international markets. The company describes the SUV as a “global car,” with its development focused on meeting different regional safety, quality and driving requirements.
The G9L measures 5,120 mm (201.6 inches) in length and has a 3,100-mm (122-inch) wheelbase. XPENG says the resulting 0.605 wheelbase-to-length ratio provides a balance between interior space and driving agility.
XPENG G9L Brings Physical AI to a Flagship SUV
Technology is at the center of the G9L. The SUV is powered by XPENG’s VLA 2.0 physical AI model, which is designed to improve the vehicle’s ability to generalize its intelligent driving capabilities across different regions.
The company says this approach allows the G9L to deliver consistent and stable performance as it expands into more international markets.
Another notable detail is the use of the same Turing AI chip found in XPENG’s IRON humanoid robot. XPENG says its work on electric vehicles and humanoid robots is supported by a common in-house AI foundation, reflecting the company’s broader strategy of treating vehicles as increasingly capable intelligent machines.
The G9L combines these technologies with an intelligent cockpit and advanced driver-assistance features, positioning it as the company’s latest technology flagship.
Designed for Global Safety Standards
XPENG has also emphasized the extensive testing carried out before the G9L’s international rollout.
The company says the SUV has been developed to meet the design requirements associated with four major five-star safety rating systems. It has completed 192 crash tests under four major protocols: Euro NCAP, ANCAP, C-NCAP and CIASI, covering more than 110 individual test items.
The G9L has also undergone road testing in 26 countries and regions, accumulating more than 6.74 million kilometers (4.19 million miles) of testing over a three-year period.
XPENG says the vehicle’s electric powertrain has been engineered to global vehicle standards and tested in a range of extreme environments. The extensive testing is intended to help the G9L deliver consistent performance across the different markets where it will be sold.
G9L to Be Built in China and Europe
The new flagship SUV will be manufactured in both Guangzhou, China, and Graz, Austria, giving XPENG additional production capacity for its global expansion.
Production in Graz will take place at Magna’s manufacturing facility, where XPENG already produces several models. The G9L will become the fourth XPENG model assembled at the Austrian plant, following the G6, G9 and P7+.
The partnership with Magna is part of XPENG’s strategy to establish local European production while using an existing manufacturing infrastructure. XPENG announced its cooperation agreement with Magna in September 2025 and has since expanded the number of models produced at the Graz facility.
Local European production could also help XPENG support its expanding presence in the region while reducing the logistical complexity associated with importing vehicles from China.
XPENG G9L Global Launch Coming October 12
The next major step for the G9L will come on October 12, when XPENG plans to officially launch the SUV for global markets at the Paris Motor Show in France.
XPENG’s exhibition area will be located in Hall 6, with the French event serving as the first major stop in the G9L’s international rollout.
The company says the SUV will eventually be introduced across 64 countries and regions, making the G9L one of its most significant global products to date.
With BEV and REEV powertrains, extensive global testing, European production and XPENG’s latest physical AI technology, the G9L is positioned as an important model in the company’s strategy to expand beyond China.
The October 12 global launch should reveal additional details about the G9L’s specifications, pricing, powertrain configurations and availability in individual international markets.
