Volkswagen ID. Polo Launches Entry-Level 37-kWh Battery Variant In Germany

Volkswagen has expanded its all-new ID. Polo lineup with a more affordable 37-kWh battery version, making electric mobility accessible to a wider range of buyers. Available for pre-order in Germany, the new entry-level model starts at €24,995 and is designed for everyday city driving, offering lower ownership costs without sacrificing key technology and safety features.

The new battery option arrives only weeks after Volkswagen introduced the ID. Polo with a larger 52-kWh battery, further broadening the appeal of the brand’s latest electric hatchback.

Affordable Entry Into Volkswagen’s Electric Range

The 37-kWh battery version targets budget-conscious customers looking for a practical electric vehicle for commuting and urban use. Thanks to its smaller battery pack, the model benefits from a lower purchase price, competitive insurance costs, and improved overall affordability.

Despite its focus on value, charging performance remains impressive. The battery can be replenished from 10% to 80% in approximately 23 minutes at compatible DC fast chargers, with charging speeds of up to 90 kW. That makes the new ID. Polo well suited for daily commuting and frequent city driving.

Strong Early Demand

Volkswagen’s newly introduced Electric Urban Car Family, developed by the Brand Group Core, has already generated significant customer interest.

According to the company, the new lineup has received more than 70,000 orders within just a few weeks, including approximately 25,000 orders for the ID. Polo, highlighting strong demand for affordable electric vehicles.

Three Trim Levels Available

The 37-kWh battery is available across three equipment levels, allowing buyers to choose between value, comfort, and premium features.

Trend

The entry-level Trend trim comes well equipped with technology and driver assistance features typically found in larger vehicles.

Standard equipment includes:

– DC fast charging up to 90 kW
– LED headlights with automatic high-beam control
– 10-inch Digital Cockpit
– 13-inch infotainment display
– Leatherette multifunction steering wheel
– Automatic climate control
– Side Assist
– Lane Assist with Emergency Assist

Life

The Life trim adds extra convenience and driver assistance for customers seeking greater comfort.

Additional standard features include adaptive cruise control, a rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, Front Cross Traffic Assist, an auto-dimming interior mirror, electrically folding mirrors with memory function, wireless smartphone charging, voice control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a variable luggage compartment floor for increased practicality.

Style

Positioned at the top of the range, the Style trim introduces premium technology and a more upscale interior.

Highlights include Volkswagen’s IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, illuminated front and rear Volkswagen logos, 3D LED taillights, sport comfort seats, ambient lighting, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and upgraded interior materials.

The Style model also features the latest version of ID. Light, Volkswagen’s interactive light strip that provides visual notifications for navigation, charging status, and other driving information. For the first time, the lighting system extends into the front doors, where it can warn occupants of approaching cyclists or other road users before the doors are opened.

Premium Options Available

Volkswagen is also offering several premium features that are uncommon in the small electric hatchback segment.

Optional upgrades include a Harman Kardon premium audio system delivering 425 watts through ten speakers and a subwoofer, a panoramic glass roof, and 12-way electrically adjustable front seats with pneumatic massage functionality. The driver’s seat also includes a memory function for storing individual seating positions.

Pricing

The new 37-kWh battery version is available in Germany with the following starting prices:

TrimStarting Price
Trend€24,995
Life€29,195
Style€29,195

Pricing and equipment listed are for the German market.
