Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric Reaches UK Retailers Ahead of Official Launch

The all-new Renault Twingo E-Tech electric has arrived at Renault retailers across the UK, giving customers their first opportunity to see the highly anticipated electric city car in person ahead of its official launch later this year.

More than 100 left-hand-drive display vehicles, all finished in Absolute Green, have been transported from France and distributed to Renault dealerships nationwide. Although customer deliveries have yet to begin, the static display fleet offers prospective buyers a closer look at Renault’s latest affordable EV before order books officially open.

Nationwide Preview Before Sales Begin

The retailer tour marks another milestone in the rollout of the Renault Twingo E-Tech electric. Interest in the compact EV has steadily grown since its global debut, following the strong reception of the Renault 5 E-Tech electric.

Until now, UK audiences have only been able to see the model during a handful of public appearances, including its debut at rnlt London Battersea, the maison renault experience on Oxford Street, and the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Customers eager to secure one of the first production models can already purchase a Renault Twingo R Pass, which grants priority ordering before general sales begin later this year.

Renault Targets Affordable Urban EV Buyers

Designed specifically for city driving, the Renault Twingo E-Tech electric combines compact dimensions with a surprisingly versatile interior.

A sliding rear bench allows owners to prioritize either passenger comfort or cargo capacity, while a 27.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery powers a lightweight 60 kW electric motor.

Renault is targeting a WLTP driving range of up to 163 miles (262 km), making the Twingo well suited to daily commuting and urban travel.

The electric city car also introduces features rarely found in the A-segment, including:

– One Pedal driving for easier stop-and-go traffic.
– Available OpenR Link infotainment with Google built-in, depending on trim level.
– A modern digital cabin designed to maximize interior space.

Perhaps most notably, Renault is aiming for a starting price below £20,000, positioning the Twingo E-Tech electric among the most affordable new electric vehicles available in the UK.

Award-Winning Before Launch

Despite not yet reaching customers in the UK, the Renault Twingo E-Tech electric has already earned industry recognition.

The model was named Electric Car of the Year at the TopGear.com EV Awards 2026, with judges highlighting its simplicity, efficiency, comfort and character.

It also received the Best Small Car title at the 2026 Autocar Awards, where its intelligent packaging, spacious interior and enjoyable driving dynamics were praised.

These early accolades suggest Renault’s newest EV could become one of the standout entrants in the growing affordable electric car segment.

R Pass Offers Early Ordering Benefits

Customers who want to secure an early production slot can purchase the Renault Twingo R Pass for £100.

The pass includes:

– Priority access when order books open.
– Exclusive updates on the vehicle.
– Access to a dedicated concierge service.
– A miniature Renault Twingo E-Tech electric model.
– An exclusive green Renault key cover.

The initiative mirrors Renault’s successful launch strategy for previous electric models and allows enthusiasts to reserve their place ahead of the wider public.

Renault Continues to Expand Its Affordable EV Lineup

The arrival of display vehicles at dealerships highlights Renault’s confidence in the Twingo E-Tech electric as it prepares for its UK launch. Combining compact dimensions, practical interior packaging, modern technology and an expected sub-£20,000 starting price, the new electric hatchback is positioned to appeal to urban drivers looking for an affordable zero-emission vehicle.

With growing public interest and multiple industry awards already secured, the Renault Twingo E-Tech electric is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched small EV launches in the UK this year.
