Porsche has taken electric performance to a new level with the introduction of a Manthey-developed track kit for the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package. For the first time, a Manthey upgrade has been engineered specifically for a fully electric sports car, delivering measurable gains in aerodynamics, power, and lap-time performance.
The result is already historic. With development driver Lars Kern behind the wheel, the upgraded Taycan set a new electric executive car lap record at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, clocking an astonishing 6:55.533. The kit will be available as a retrofit starting June for all Taycan Turbo GT models equipped with the Weissach Package.
A Record-Breaking Electric Performance Benchmark
The sub-seven-minute lap places the Manthey-equipped Taycan firmly at the top of its class. The time beats the previous record by more than nine seconds and improves on the model’s own prior benchmark by a significant 12 seconds.
The gains are not marginal. Higher cornering speeds, improved braking stability, and stronger acceleration all contributed to the record lap. On certain sections of the circuit, speeds increased by as much as 14 km/h compared to earlier runs—clear evidence of the kit’s real-world performance advantage.
Aerodynamics: Over Three Times the Downforce
At the core of the Manthey Kit is a comprehensive aerodynamic overhaul. Downforce has been increased by more than three times compared to the standard Taycan Turbo GT.
At 200 km/h, total downforce rises from 95 kg to 310 kg, while at top speed it reaches approximately 740 kg. This dramatic increase allows for greater stability at high speeds and significantly higher grip through fast corners.
Key upgrades include a redesigned rear wing with larger end plates, an optimised front diffuser, and a more aggressive rear diffuser. Additional underbody air deflectors and carbon aerodiscs further enhance airflow efficiency. Adjustable aero components also allow drivers to tailor the setup depending on track conditions.
More Power and Enhanced Attack Mode
For the first time, a Manthey kit also modifies the electric powertrain. Improvements to the battery system, control electronics, and inverters increase maximum discharge current, pushing total output to 600 kW—20 kW more than the standard model.
Torque climbs to 1,270 Nm under Launch Control, while the upgraded Attack Mode now delivers a temporary boost of up to 130 kW. This pushes peak output to 730 kW for short bursts, offering stronger acceleration on demand.
Track-Focused Chassis and Braking Upgrades
The performance gains extend beyond power and aerodynamics. The Manthey Kit introduces a revised suspension setup, specifically tuned for track driving. Systems including Porsche Active Ride, all-wheel drive, and rear-axle steering have been recalibrated to improve agility, precision, and cornering grip.
New 21-inch forged aluminium wheels reduce unsprung weight despite their larger size, while optional Pirelli P ZERO Trofeo RS tyres provide maximum grip. These tyres are wider than standard, further enhancing traction and stability.
Braking performance is also upgraded, with larger discs—440 mm at the front and 410 mm at the rear—paired with high-performance pads for stronger and more consistent deceleration.
Motorsport Design Meets Electric Innovation
Visually, the Manthey Kit reinforces the Taycan’s track-focused intent. Carbon fibre components are used extensively across the body, including wheel arch vents, side skirts, and aerodynamic extensions. The design is not purely aesthetic—it directly contributes to improved airflow and performance.
This upgrade embodies Porsche’s “Intelligent Performance” philosophy, combining efficiency, power, and precision engineering into a cohesive package.
Availability
The Manthey Kit will be offered as a factory-backed retrofit from June, exclusively for Taycan Turbo GT models equipped with the Weissach Package. It represents a new chapter in electric performance tuning, bridging motorsport expertise with next-generation EV technology.
The Manthey-enhanced Taycan Turbo GT demonstrates how far electric performance has evolved. With record-breaking speed, advanced aerodynamics, and track-ready engineering, it sets a new benchmark for what electric sports sedans can achieve on the world’s most demanding circuit.
