BMW, MINI EV Drivers Gain 20% Discount on IONNA Charging

BMW has rolled out a new incentive aimed at simplifying and reducing the cost of public charging for its electric vehicle customers in the United States. In partnership with IONNA, the automaker is introducing a preferred pricing program that delivers a 20% discount on charging sessions for both BMW and MINI electric vehicle drivers.

The offer is available immediately and runs through September 30, 2026, marking another step toward improving the everyday usability of EV ownership.

The new program is fully integrated into BMW’s digital ecosystem, eliminating common friction points associated with public charging. Drivers who initiate a session using Plug & Charge or the My BMW App automatically receive the discount—no subscriptions, RFID cards, or manual activation required.

This streamlined experience reflects a broader industry push toward making EV charging as simple as refueling a conventional vehicle. By embedding the discount directly into the charging process, BMW ensures that drivers can focus on convenience rather than logistics.

IONNA, a joint venture backed by eight major global automakers including BMW, has been rapidly expanding its footprint across the United States. The network now features more than 1,000 charging bays nationwide, with significant growth planned in the near future.

The charging network is designed with performance and reliability in mind, offering:

– High-power DC fast charging
– Compatibility with both NACS and CCS connectors
– Strategically located stations in high-traffic, real-world travel corridors

These features aim to address one of the most critical challenges in EV adoption: access to reliable and fast public charging.

The timing of this initiative aligns with BMW’s continued expansion in the electric vehicle market. The brand already offers one of the broadest premium EV portfolios in the U.S., and upcoming models like the next-generation BMW iX3 are expected to further strengthen its position.

As EV adoption grows, partnerships like the one with IONNA play a key role in ensuring that infrastructure keeps pace with demand. BMW’s strategy focuses on creating a cohesive charging ecosystem that spans home, workplace, and public charging solutions.
