Revealed ahead of Auto China 2026 in Beijing, the debut introduces two striking concept vehicles while outlining a broader strategy tailored to the world’s largest new energy vehicle (NEV) market.
The move signals a shift beyond simply selling electric vehicles—positioning IONIQ as a full mobility ecosystem designed specifically for Chinese consumers.
A New Chapter for IONIQ in China
Already recognized globally for innovation and design, the IONIQ brand has built its reputation on models like the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and IONIQ 9. Now, Hyundai is localizing that success with a China-focused approach.
Rather than offering global models unchanged, the company is adapting IONIQ to meet local expectations. This includes integrating advanced smart driving features, enhanced in-car digital experiences, and services tailored to the fast-evolving Chinese EV landscape.
A unique naming strategy will also be introduced, with future models named after planets—emphasizing a customer-centric philosophy where each vehicle “orbits” around user needs.
