Aptera Completes First Validation-Line Vehicle, Advances Toward EPA Certification

Aptera Motors has reached a key production milestone, completing the first vehicle built on its low-volume validation assembly line. The achievement marks a crucial step toward regulatory approval, EPA certification, and initial customer deliveries of its ultra-efficient solar electric vehicle.

The milestone signals Aptera’s transition from hand-built validation units to a more structured and repeatable manufacturing process — a necessary move as the company prepares for scaled production.

From Prototype Builds to Structured EV Production

The newly operational validation line consists of 14 dedicated stations staffed by specialized vehicle line technicians. Unlike earlier hand-assembled units, this process enables:

– Repeatable vehicle builds
– Process verification and refinement
– Installation optimization for major vehicle systems
– Assembly workflow improvements

This structured approach allows Aptera to fine-tune build sequences and station layouts ahead of full series production — a critical step for any EV startup moving from engineering to execution.

Testing and Certification Progress

Vehicles produced on the validation line are being allocated to essential testing programs, including thermal validation, brake performance testing and destructive crash-related testing.

These efforts support Aptera’s path toward regulatory self-certification and EPA certification — both mandatory before customer deliveries can begin in the United States.

“The completion of the first vehicle off our low-volume assembly line is a significant achievement for the entire company,” said Steve Fambro, Co-CEO of Aptera. “These first vehicles will be used to complete the key tests and optimization required to sell our first vehicles to customers.”

Scaling Toward Deliveries

Aptera’s assembly and integration organization has grown significantly in recent months, becoming the company’s largest functional team. This expansion reflects a broader shift from product development to validation, certification, and production execution.

Vehicles will continue rolling off the validation line in the coming weeks as Aptera builds out its testing fleet and advances through regulatory milestones.

With nearly 50,000 reservations — representing over $2 billion in potential revenue — Aptera remains focused on disciplined manufacturing execution as it targets first customer deliveries later this year.
