Toyota bZ4X Touring Goes On Sale in Japan with 734 km Range

Toyota Motor Corporation has expanded its all-electric line-up with the launch of the new bZ4X Touring, a more versatile and adventure-focused version of its flagship electric SUV.

Revealed today, the bZ4X Touring builds on the strengths of the standard bZ4X while delivering significantly greater practicality, enhanced performance and class-leading driving range.

Designed with families and active lifestyles in mind, the new model blends strong acceleration, genuine off-road capability and long-distance comfort — all wrapped in a more spacious, rugged package.

Bigger, More Practical, Adventure-Ready

The bZ4X Touring grows in size and utility, offering approximately 1.4 times more luggage space than the regular model. Measuring 4,830 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height (with a 2,850 mm wheelbase), it strikes a balance between SUV presence and everyday usability.

Cargo capacity stands at an impressive 619 litres, with 1,092 mm of cargo length and 850 mm of height even with the 60:40 split rear seats in place. Thoughtful touches such as cargo hooks, shopping bag hooks and rear hatch seat-fold levers make it easy to adapt the space for everything from weekly shopping to outdoor gear.

Inside, the cabin feels open and refined, with generous headroom and a clean horizontal dashboard layout. A new 14-inch standalone centre display integrates navigation, climate control and multimedia, while wireless charging and smartphone connectivity enhance everyday convenience.

734 km Range and Rapid Charging in 28 Minutes

One of the standout figures is the bZ4X Touring’s class-leading 734 km driving range on a single charge. Toyota achieves this through a 74.69 kWh lithium-ion battery, improved eAxle efficiency using silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors and aerodynamic enhancements including a large roof spoiler and optimised rear bumper design.

Rapid charging performance has also been improved. With battery preconditioning, the Touring can charge to approximately 80% in around 28 minutes, even in cold conditions down to -10°C. When a charging station is set in the navigation system, the vehicle automatically optimises battery temperature ahead of arrival for faster charging.

For home charging, Toyota offers a 6 kW charger (200V) with an integrated cable, and compatibility with a demand controller allows owners to charge without overloading household circuits.

280 kW AWD and 0–100 km/h in 4.6 Seconds

The 4WD variant delivers serious performance credentials. Equipped with high-output front and rear eAxles, it produces a combined 280 kW system output, enabling 0–100 km/h acceleration in just 4.6 seconds.

A new AWD control system continuously monitors steering input and wheel speeds to optimise torque distribution between front and rear wheels. This enhances stability on snow, uneven terrain and challenging off-road surfaces.

Toyota’s X-MODE system comes as standard on AWD models, offering three selectable modes tailored to varying road and trail conditions. The result is an electric SUV that blends responsive acceleration with genuine all-weather confidence.

Advanced Safety and Driver Assistance as Standard

The bZ4X Touring is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense as standard, including Proactive Driving Assist for steering and deceleration support in traffic and through curves, along with pre-collision braking.

It also features advanced Toyota Teammate technologies such as:

– Advanced Drive (traffic congestion support)
– Advanced Park with remote functionality

These systems are designed to reduce driver workload in motorway traffic and simplify parking manoeuvres.

Rugged Styling with a Premium Finish

Visually, the bZ4X Touring adopts a more robust identity. A bold black LED rear light bar stretches across the width of the tailgate, enhancing its road presence. Black 20-inch alloy wheels, large roof rails and skid plates reinforce its adventure-ready character.

Five exterior colours are available, including Crystal White Pearl, Magnetite Gray Metallic and the newly developed Brilliant Bronze Metallic paired with a Crystal Black roof.

Inside, buyers can choose between Black for a premium ambience or Khaki for a more outdoor-inspired feel, complemented by black wood grain-patterned trim.

Toyota’s Multi-Pathway Electrification Strategy

The bZ4X Touring forms part of Toyota’s broader multi-pathway approach to carbon neutrality, offering electrified solutions tailored to diverse customer needs worldwide. Under its “to you” brand philosophy, Toyota aims to deliver vehicles designed for specific lifestyles and everyday realities.

With extended range, faster charging, enhanced practicality and genuine AWD performance, the new bZ4X Touring strengthens Toyota’s position in the rapidly expanding electric SUV segment — particularly for families seeking long-distance capability without compromise.

The new Toyota bZ4X Touring is set to attract drivers looking for a spacious, high-performance electric SUV that’s equally at home on the school run, motorway and mountain trail.
