Lynk & Co has pushed the boundaries of plug-in hybrid technology by setting a new Guinness World Records title with its latest SUV, the Lynk & Co 08. The vehicle achieved an impressive 293 kilometres of driving in fully electric mode, the longest distance ever recorded for a plug-in hybrid SUV.
This milestone places the Lynk & Co 08 firmly at the top of the PHEV segment, proving that plug-in hybrids can deliver meaningful electric-only performance in real-world conditions—not just on paper.
With an official WLTP-rated electric range of up to 200 km, the Lynk & Co 08 allows many drivers to complete several days of daily commuting without using a drop of fuel. This significantly lowers fuel consumption and tailpipe emissions, while still offering the flexibility of a combustion engine for longer journeys.
The record-setting drive goes even further, showing just how far Lynk & Co’s engineering can stretch electric efficiency when conditions are optimized.
Several key technologies made this achievement possible:
– 39.6 kWh high-energy battery, certified to IP68 standards for durability and safety
– Advanced thermal management system, maintaining efficiency during extended driving
– Optimized aerodynamics, with a drag coefficient below 0.30
– High-performance modular platform, designed for comfort, stability, and low energy consumption
Together, these elements enabled the Lynk & Co 08 to travel 293 km in 100% electric mode, a result never before achieved by a plug-in hybrid vehicle.
Unlike laboratory-based testing, this record was certified under strict real-world conditions and officially approved by Guinness World Records.
The test took place at the Centro Dinámico Pegaso racetrack in Toluca, Mexico, following a detailed verification process. Telemetry specialists monitored performance and distance, while civil engineers measured track parameters. Mechanical engineers inspected the vehicle before and after the attempt to confirm its mechanical integrity.
A certified driver piloted the SUV continuously for more than six hours, maintaining average speeds between 50 and 60 km/h. This approach ensured the result reflected realistic driving scenarios rather than idealized lab testing.
Efficiency isn’t the only highlight. The Lynk & Co 08 pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a high-performance electric motor, delivering a combined output of 346 horsepower. Drivers can switch between Pure, Hybrid, and Power modes, all intelligently managed by the brand’s EMP system to balance performance and efficiency depending on driving conditions.
Inside, the SUV combines a premium interior, forward-looking design, and advanced digital features—reinforcing that sustainability doesn’t come at the cost of comfort or technology.
By achieving the longest electric-only distance ever recorded for a plug-in hybrid SUV, the Lynk & Co 08 sets a new benchmark for the segment. It demonstrates that modern PHEVs can meaningfully bridge the gap between traditional hybrids and full electric vehicles—delivering real electric driving without range anxiety.
