Volkswagen e-Transporter And e-Caravelle Now With More Range

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is optimising the range of the all-electric Transporter and the all-electric Caravelle. A larger battery with a usable capacity of 70 kWh, an improved DC charging curve and an optional new 4Motion all-wheel drive.

With these developments, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is boosting the everyday suitability and efficiency of the electric Transporter and the electric Caravelle even further, thus supporting commercial customers on their way to an economical, lower-carbon fleet.

Longer range, shorter charging times – now even more versatile. The usable battery capacity of the e-Transporter and e-Caravelle is increasing from 64 to around 70 kWh. This enables them to achieve a range of up to 380 kilometres which is around 13 per cent higher than before. At the same time, charging times are noticeably shorter: at a 125 kW DC charging station, the high-voltage battery can now be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes – about ten minutes less than before. Looking at it the other way round, this means that a short charging stop of ten minutes provides around 100 kilometres of additional range.

New all-wheel drive system for more traction and stability. From the beginning of 2026, the electric Transporter will also be available with the intelligent 4Motion all-wheel drive system on request. It combines the familiar rear-mounted motor with an additional electric machine on the front axle. Since the two electric drive units are not mechanically coupled, the torque can be quickly distributed between the front and rear axles as needed – for better traction on construction sites, wet roads or unpaved terrain.

This 4Motion all-wheel drive system works closely with Electronic Stability Control (ESP) and traction control for the best possible road grip. Torque and braking force can be used in a targeted manner to reduce over- or understeering, keeping the e-Transporter safely in lane even in wet conditions, on changing road surfaces or when cornering.

The system is available in three power outputs: 100 kW (136 PS), 160 kW (218 PS) and 210 kW (286 PS).
