Renault Filante marks a bold new chapter in the brand’s international expansion. Positioned as a global flagship for design and technology, Filante plays a pivotal role in Renault’s 2027 International Game Plan, strengthening the brand’s footprint across Asia and the Middle East while pushing Renault further upmarket.
The name Filante is deeply rooted in Renault’s heritage. It echoes the legendary Étoile Filante prototype, which shattered multiple world speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1956. More recently, the name was revived for the Renault Filante Record 2025 electric concept, which achieved an impressive efficiency record—covering 1,008 km (626 miles) in under 10 hours, with energy consumption of just 7.8 kWh/100 km.
Filante also references Renault’s prestigious “Étoile” models of the 1930s, which represented the brand’s most exclusive offerings on international markets—making the name a natural fit for Renault’s newest global flagship.
Designed for Global Ambitions, Built in Korea
Produced at Renault’s Busan plant in South Korea, Filante showcases the industrial and technological expertise of Renault Korea, with a driving experience tailored to regional preferences. Positioned in the E segment, the model supports Renault’s move toward more premium offerings while complementing a Korean market where D and E segment vehicles already account for over 51% of sales.
As Nicolas Paris, CEO of Renault Korea, explains:
“Renault Filante represents the best of what Renault Group and Renault Korea can achieve together. Combining Renault’s global DNA in design and innovation with the technical excellence of Renault Korea, it is backed by the advanced capabilities of the Korean automotive industry.”
Under the 2027 International Game Plan, Renault will launch eight new vehicles outside Europe between 2024 and 2027, with one in three international sales expected to be hybrid or electric. Filante’s rollout begins in South Korea in March 2026, followed by Latin America and the Gulf States in early 2027.
Exterior Design: Where Elegance Meets Presence
Developed under the Aurora project, Renault Filante introduces a fresh design language that blends saloon elegance with SUV-like presence. Sculpted surfaces and a coupé-inspired rear profile position it as a premium alternative to traditional E-segment sedans.
Designed collaboratively by Renault Technocentre in France and Renault Design Center Seoul, and developed in South Korea, Filante measures 4,915 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,635 mm high—dimensions that convey confidence while ensuring generous interior space.
A Distinctive Visual Signature
At the front, an illuminated three-dimensional grille inspired by the Renault diamond creates a striking first impression, transitioning seamlessly from body colour to gloss black. Ultra-slim LED headlights sit flush with the body, while daytime running lights form a 28-degree angle, subtly echoing the Renault emblem.
From the side, a flowing roofline, chrome window surrounds, and 19- or 20-inch wheels reinforce the premium character. At the rear, sculpted surfaces, ultra-slim LED lights, and a suspended spoiler create a wide, athletic stance. The Esprit Alpine version adds contrasting black and white accents for extra visual drama.
Interior: A High-Tech Sanctuary of Comfort
Inside, Renault Filante is designed as a modern living space, combining intuitive ergonomics, advanced connectivity, and refined materials to create a calm, premium atmosphere.
The cabin is dominated by the OpenR Panorama Screen, integrating three 12.3-inch displays across the dashboard, complemented by a 25.6-inch augmented-reality head-up display. This layout keeps essential information directly within the driver’s line of sight while enhancing immersion.
A new four-spoke steering wheel, minimalist air vents, and carefully selected materials—including recycled and grained coated textiles—balance comfort, durability, and sustainability. Interior ambiences vary by trim level, with Techno, Iconic, and Esprit Alpine each offering distinct colours, finishes, and detailing.
Space and Comfort for Everyone On Board
Thanks to a 2,820 mm wheelbase, Filante delivers impressive room for all occupants. Rear passengers enjoy 320 mm of knee room and 874 mm of headroom, while the 60/40 split rear bench ensures comfort and flexibility.
Boot capacity stands at 654 litres with the seats up and expands to 2,071 litres when folded. A fixed 1.1 m² panoramic sunroof floods the cabin with natural light, while tri-zone climate control and an air purification system monitoring PM2.5 particles enhance passenger comfort.
An Audiophile-Grade Sound Experience
Exceptional sound insulation, acoustic glazing, and optimised seals create a serene cabin environment. Buyers can choose between an Arkamys audio system with eight speakers or a Bose Premium system featuring ten speakers and active noise cancellation.
Connected, Intelligent, and Personalised Technology
Renault Filante debuts the next-generation OpenR Panorama infotainment system, powered by Android Automotive. The interface is fast, intuitive, and highly customisable, with voice control, app access, and personalised driver profiles.
A 12.3-inch passenger display allows independent media use via Bluetooth headphones, while a world-first XR in-car video game uses the vehicle’s camera with near-zero latency. The Adot Auto intelligent voice assistant enables natural interaction, supported by AI Tips for context-aware guidance. Over-the-air software updates ensure the system stays current.
The My Renault app adds remote access to vehicle location, pre-conditioning, and digital key sharing for up to five users.
Advanced Driver Assistance and Safety
Renault Filante features more than 30 advanced driver assistance systems, grouped under Renault Easy Drive, to enhance safety and reduce driver stress. These include adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, lane centring, emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, Auto Park Assist, and 360-degree camera views.
Three new technologies make their debut on Filante:
– Emergency collision avoidance, assisting evasive manoeuvres between 18 and 75 mph
– Digital interior rear-view mirror, improving visibility and integrating electronic tolling
– Child presence detection, alerting drivers if a child is left inside the vehicle
A driver attention monitoring system and advanced head-up display further enhance safety and awareness.
Powertrain: Full Hybrid E-Tech 250
Built on the CMA platform, Renault Filante features an upgraded full hybrid E-Tech 250 hp powertrain that delivers strong performance without the need for external charging.
A 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine (150 hp, 250 Nm) works alongside two electric motors integrated into a DHT Pro automatic transmission, producing a combined 250 hp and up to 565 Nm of torque. A 1.64 kWh lithium-ion battery allows up to 75% of city driving in electric mode, with fuel consumption reduced by up to 50% compared to non-hybrid petrol models.
Chassis and suspension tuning focus on comfort, refinement, and high-speed stability, with Renault targeting top safety scores in the 2026 KNCAP ratings.
