ADL Delivers Enviro100EV electric buses to London Bus, receives order from FirstBus

Electric bus manufacturer Alexander Dennis (ADL) announced that it had supplied 13 next-generation Enviro100EV zero-emission buses to Transport UK London Bus for use on behalf of Transport for London (TfL).

The Enviro100EV are the first next-generation Alexander Dennis electric buses for Transport UK London Bus, and among the first of the type to enter service on Transport for London services. They are used on route G1, which provides local links between Battersea and Streatham.

The Enviro100EV’s compact dimensions – 8.5m in length and just 2.35m wide – help drivers navigate tight turns and oncoming traffic in narrow streets. The 10-mile route loops to serve housing estates as well as St George’s Hospital, offering vital connections for South London communities without bringing tailpipe emissions into residential areas.

The Enviro100EV are powered by the efficient Voith Electrical Drive System, with energy stored in 354kWh batteries that offer ample operational range between charges at Transport UK London Bus’s Battersea garage.

Monitoring through advanced AD Connect telematics is showing the buses’ energy consumption to be in line with the manufacturer’s prior modelling for route G1.

In a related news, ADL said it has taken a firm order from British bus company First Bus for 17 next-generation zero-emission buses.

12 Enviro200EV and five Enviro100EV will be delivered in 2026 for use on Bath city services. They will be part of a wider investment by First Bus in electric buses and associated charging infrastructure in the West of England, supported by government funding from the Department for Transport’s Zero-Emission Bus Regional Areas (ZEBRA) scheme which the operator secured through the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority.

Each of the 12 Enviro200EV will be 10.9m long and offer 33 fixed passenger seats alongside five additional tip-up seats available when the wheelchair and buggy bays are not otherwise occupied. With its short overhangs and narrow width of 2.47m, the Enviro200EV is well suited to navigate Bath’s historic streets.

Manoeuvrability is even more central to the Alexander Dennis Enviro100EV, five of which are set to join the First Bus fleet in Bath. At a diminutive length of just 8.5m and width of 2.35m, the manufacturer’s “big small bus” offers passengers the same level of accessibility and comfort with 26 seats including six tip-ups.

Both the Enviro200EV and Enviro100EV are powered by the Voith Electrical Drive System, which has demonstrated strong performance in Zemo Partnership zero-emission bus testing including 97% grid-to-wheel efficiency.
