NIO launches ONVO L90 Three-Row SUV in China

NIO’s second brand ONVO announced the start of L90 pre-orders, with prices starting at RMB 279,900 ($39,000 USD) for full purchase and RMB 193,900 ($27,000 USD) with Battery as a Service (BaaS) option.

The ONVO L90 will be officially launched by the end of July, with deliveries starting on August 1 in the Chinese market. Show cars have already arrived at all ONVO stores across China.

Positioned as a Smart Large-Space Flagship SUV, the ONVO L90 was designed by former Bentley designer Raul Pires. Built to delight every family member on every journey, this flagship SUV stretches 5,145 mm in length, with an impressive 3,110 mm wheelbase. Boasting 107 ingenious aerodynamic optimizations, this three-row SUV achieves an ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.25 Cd. Its bold and classic silhouette commands presence in any scenario.

The ONVO L90 is available in five exterior colors: Ridge Brown, Stellar Silver, Sunrise Gold, Mountain Black, and Snowcap White.

Inside, the L90 offers a choice of three-row six-seat or seven-seat layout. Three interior themes are available: Cloud Mist Beige, Radiant Night Black, and Banyan Cinnamon. The flagship-standard cocooning cabin features the 16-million-color ambient lighting, premium genuine wood trims, titanium soft-glow accents, and supple leather wrapping, creating a warm and reassuring cabin for the entire family.

Space is the foremost priority for large three-row SUV users. However, most flagship SUVs in this segment today rely on hybrid or extended-range powertrains, which require the packaging of both electric and combustion systems. As a result, many struggle to meet real-world family needs, especially pain points such as uncomfortable third row, insufficient room for both passengers and cargo, and inaccessible trunks in tight parking spots.

Built on NIO’s full-domain 900V high-voltage platform, the ONVO L90 introduces a revolutionary spatial layout. With 36 highly integrated designs, it innovatively redefines the utility and comfort of three-row SUVs. Offering 4,195 mm of effective cabin length, 670 L storage space, and a 240 L smart power frunk which is the largest in the Chinese market, the ONVO L90 sets a new benchmark in its segment, delivering a VIP experience in every seat, ample space for six people and ten suitcases, and storage in both front and rear.

Backed by NIO’s decade-long investments in technology and charging and battery swapping infrastructure, the ONVO L90 brings a transformative BEV solution for family-sized SUVs. It achieves a class-leading energy consumption of just 14.5 kWh/100 km with its two-wheel-drive variant in CLTC. Coupled with the standard 85 kWh long-range battery pack, the L90 delivers a range of up to 605 km.

Extensive power infrastructure is key to eliminating range concerns. NIO has deployed 3,400 Power Swap Stations and 4,659 Power Charger Stations nationwide to date and built up a battery swapping network connecting 20 backbone expressways, spanning 16 city clusters connecting 550 cities in China. While the range-extended three-row SUVs still struggle with recharging infrastructure and efficiency, the ONVO L90 taps into NIO’s robust charging and swapping network, freeing users from range anxiety.

The L90 was developed according to the 5-star safety rating standards of the 2024 C-NCAP protocol and the toughest safety requirements of the 2024 C-IASI. It features a body composition of 84% aluminium alloy and ultra-high-strength steel, which provides all-round protection for the front trunk, cabin, and battery compartment. The L90 comes standard with nine airbags, including a 2.92 m ultralong side curtain airbags with a capacity of 56 L extending from the first to the third row.

Engineered to reduce road accidents and driving strains, the L90 boasts 45 industry-leading features including the end-to-end Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB). Built upon NIO’s extensive data and algorithm base, strengthened by 170 million km of real-world smart driving mileage, the ONVO Smart Driving makes every trip safer and more relaxing.

The ONVO L90 also leads in smart technology that covers the full lifecycle of the product and multiple use scenarios. The latest NT.Coconut 2.0 ONVO Smart System seamlessly coordinates smart cabin, smart driving, vehicle control, and smart connectivity features, delivering flagship-level smart experiences throughout the car.

Thanks to lightweight technologies rarely seen in the segment, the L90 is as light as 2,250 kg. Paired with the permanent magnet synchronous motor that can be found on NIO’s flagship model ET9, its performance is class-leading. The AWD version outputs 440 kW and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4.7 s. Flagship-level software and hardware of the Cloud Comfort Smart Chassis allow for precise control and confident handling, making high performance feel effortless.
