Polestar 3 wins world’s biggest independent winter range test

Each winter, the Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF) and the car magazine Motor host a comprehensive range test, pushing EVs to their absolute limits. Under realistic and demanding conditions—with steep climbs, snowfall, and icy roads—the test reveals how far EVs can actually travel on a single charge compared to their official  WLTP range (the number you see on websites and product pages).

This year, the Polestar 3 Long range Dual motor with Performance Pack competed against 23 other electric vehicles from various segments and left the field behind. Literally. Even though it wasn’t among the cars with the longest official range, the Polestar 3 outlasted all competitors, covering an impressive 531 km under harsh conditions. It also registered the smallest discrepancy from its official WLTP range of 561 km—only a 5% deviation—setting it apart from all other contestants.

The performance of the Polestar 3 at El Prix is almost unprecedented. In the six years this winter test has been held, its result is the second-best ever recorded.

“We are proud that Polestar 3 wins another big test! Range is an important criterion for customers – and this result underlines that Polestar 3 is a great choice for everybody seeking a luxury experience in an outstanding SUV. We are developing our cars above the Arctic Circle in Sweden, so it’s no surprise for us that Polestar 3 performs better than the competition in challenging conditions.” says Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Polestar.

The El Prix results speak for themselves. The Polestar 3 not only belongs on winter roads—it sets the benchmark. It offers a glimpse into the future of electric mobility, representing not just a win for Polestar but also a promise of what top-tier electric vehicles can achieve in the years ahead.

For drivers, this means Polestar 3 is a reliable choice for both daily commutes and long journeys, regardless of the season.
