Chinese electric vehicle maker XPeng and BP pulse have partnered to expand their electric vehicle charging networks in mainland China.
A Memorandum of Understanding outlines plans for pilot projects in major economic hubs, focusing on deploying a reliable, ultra-fast charging network through coordinated equipment and site selection.
This collaboration will grant customers of both companies access to a combined network spanning 420 cities and over 30,000 charging points, creating one of the most extensive premium urban charging infrastructures in China. The agreement also covers potential cooperation in photovoltaics, energy storage, charging technology, and marketing.
XPeng currently operates approximately 10,000 charging points across more than 2,000 locations in 420 cities, while BP pulse has 23,000 charging points at 1,000 locations.
XPeng recently began deploying its S5 HPC charging stations (up to 800 kW) in September 2024, upgrading from its 2022 S4 model.
This deal mirrors XPeng’s recent agreements with Volkswagen (for reciprocal charging network access and exploring co-branded fast chargers) and Xiaomi (granting Xiaomi access to XPeng’s charging infrastructure).
