DS Automobiles has unveiled its new flagship DS N°8. For DS N°8, the number 8 is unprecedented for DS Automobiles. Its shape, close to the infinity sign, is associated with balance and serenity. To strengthen the Brand’s identity, the car’s rear will carry the “DS AUTOMOBILES” lettering completed by “N°8”.
Inspired by the DS AERO SPORT LOUNGE concept, DS N°8 demonstrates a progressive approach to great French coachbuilding. DS N°8 is a model focused on the search for aero-efficiency. This pursuit of efficiency has clearly inspired its design with its taut and tapered lines. DS N°8 is fully in line with the avant-garde of the original DS introduced in 1955, the SM launched in 1970 and the pioneering spirit that has driven the Brand since its creation in 2014.
Bursting with refinement and technology, DS N°8’s design is a projection into the future and manifesto for the French Art of Travel. DS N°8’s shape is an invitation to cover long distances through its record-setting aerodynamics. Its Cx of only 0.24 and its SCx of 0.64, are among the best in its class. DS N°8 shows these aerodynamic characteristics perfectly through the smoothness of its lines which make the flow of air around the car’s body obvious. Each part of the bodywork has been scrutinised in the wind tunnel. All the work on aerodynamics represents a 15 dm² saving in SCx, ie. a range increase of 60 km WLTP and 75 km on the motorway. This technical feat was achieved without any compromise to the exterior design’s appeal.
DS N°8 will be available with a choice of three 100 % electric drivetrains developing 230 hp, 245 hp and 350 hp, the latter being fitted with two electric motors for four-wheel drive. All motors enjoy excess power that periodically gives an extra 30 hp to the FWD version – so 260 hp, 35 hp to the FWD LONG RANGE version ‑ so 280 bhp, and 25 bhp to the AWD LONG RANGE model ‑ so 375 bhp.
The work carried out on the car’s aerodynamics makes it possible to improve range significantly while remaining faithful to the Brand’s design and technical DNA. DS N°8 is available with a choice of two batteries. The first provides a usable capacity of 74 kWh to DS N°8 FWD (230 hp). The second, with a net capacity of 97.2 kWh, is fitted to the FWD LONG RANGE (245 hp) and AWD LONG RANGE (350 hp) versions. DS N°8 FWD LONG RANGE has a range of 750 km for a consumption of 12.9 kWh/100 km (standard WLTP cycle). It also claims an impressive range of more than 500 km on the motorway (at a constant speed of 120 km/h).
DS N°8 offers first-rate performance, with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 5.4 seconds for the AWD LONG RANGE version, and in 7.7 / 7.8 seconds for the FWD versions. Every DS N°8 has its top speed limited to 190 km/h.
The all-new DS N°8 is set to arrive in European showrooms from mid-2025. Pricing details will be announced later.
