BYD SEAL U Awarded 5 Green Stars in Green NCAP Test

Green NCAP has tested the BYD SEAL U DM-i (PHEV), marking the third vehicle from the Chinese automaker to undergo the organization’s rigorous assessments.

The SEAL U, a D-segment SUV, offers a comfortable driving experience with an impressive WLTP-approved range of 500 kilometers, made possible by an 86 kWh battery and an official consumption rate of 20.5 kWh/100 km. This figure was validated by Green NCAP’s independent testing.

Green NCAP’s evaluations go beyond standard homologation tests, highlighting the vehicle’s performance under challenging conditions such as the high-load highway cycle and the Cold Ambient Test at -7°C. These scenarios are particularly demanding for large SUVs, where factors such as aerodynamic drag and cabin heating requirements significantly impact energy consumption. Despite these challenges, the SEAL U performed within expected parameters, with higher consumption but still maintaining efficiency.

Overall, the BYD SEAL U achieved an Average Score of 93% and earned a prestigious 5 Green Stars from Green NCAP, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.

BYD recently launched its first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) the new BYD SEAL U DM-i into the UK market. This sleek and spacious D-segment SUV is a breakthrough in intelligent PHEV technology, offering all the advantages of electric driving without sacrificing range.

As part of BYD’s eco-friendly SEAL family, the SEAL U DM-i is available now to purchase from the ever-expanding UK dealer network. With high-end features and competitive pricing, delivering an affordable and efficient solution for everyday travel and long-distance journeys. Prices start from just £33,205 OTR (Boost trim)  up to £39,905 OTR (Design trim).
