1000-hp McMurtry Spéirling Pure Goes On Sale For £820,000 Before Taxes

British electric car manufacturer McMurtry Automotive has revealed the Spéirling Pure, an updated version of the Goodwood-record-breaking Spéirling electric fan car,

The McMurtry Spéirling Pure will make public debut next month at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with pre-production prototypes to follow in 2024 ahead of customer deliveries set for 2025.

Orders are now being taken with pricing from £820,000 before taxes. Final Production will be limited to 100 units.

The new Pure version of the McMurtry Spéirling retains its familiar appearance with a compact, toy-like design featuring a short wheelbase and narrow body, albeit with updated wheels. It measures 3.45 meters in length, 1.58 meters in width, and just 1.02 meters in height. Despite being so low, it can still accommodate drivers up to 6’7″ (two meters) in height and 150 kilograms (330 pounds) in weight thanks to the adjustable pedals and steering wheel.

However, the noteworthy changes extend beyond the aesthetics. Primarily, the fan system responsible for generating downforce has undergone revisions, resulting in a 15% increase in efficiency and a 14% reduction in weight. These modifications, coupled with various chassis enhancements, contribute to the production-ready Spéirling weighing less than 1,000kg.

Under the hood, the McMurtry Spéirling Pure continues to employ two electric motors situated on the rear axle, delivering a combined output of 1,000hp. Although an official 0-60mph acceleration time has not been disclosed, it’s worth noting that a remarkable 1.4 seconds was achieved by Mat in previous testing. With the introduction of new gearing, the Pure version can now reach a top speed of 190mph (306 km/h). Power is sourced from a 60kWh battery, which is reportedly capable of recharging in just 20 minutes. As the Spéirling Pure is designed exclusively for track use, no official range figure is provided. Nevertheless, McMurtry asserts that the vehicle can complete “10 laps of Silverstone National at lap record pace” before requiring a recharge.
